Solwyn (SOUL-win)

The continent of Solwyn is segmented by five wide rivers called the Fingers, creating the impression of several large islands rather than one continuous landmass. Solwyn is primarily made up of gently rolling plains and sparse forests, though small areas of wetland and beach environments can also be found along the coasts and at the delta where the Fingers intersect to form the Palm.

As with most of Asalia, Solwyn experiences four seasons of approximately equal length. Being in a temperate zone, weather is not hugely unpredictable - spring rains, summer thunderstorms, autumn winds, and winter frost - with few destructive weather phenomena outside of occasional coastal or riverside flooding. Higher elevations may experience snow as early as late autumn that doesn't fully melt until early spring, but this is uncommon for most of the continent and the Fingers rarely, if ever, freeze over entirely.

Due to its mild climate and vast surface area, Solwyn is home to a great variety of plant and animal life. Its open plains provide ample grazing for cows, sheep, horses, pigs, chickens, and more, which in turn provide such resources as food, leather, and wool for the people who live alongside them.

Less conveniently for those who call Solwyn home, its shadows - deep in forests or caves, late at night away from the lights of civilization - act as refuge for Gheástryn, many of which would be more than happy to make a meal of unwary travelers.
