Chainblight

The cause of Chainblight is unknown to most. Even the Gods themselves knew not how this loathsome condition came about. It is a mysterious curse, causing the victim immense pain and transformation of physical appearance. Writhing in agony as a humongous blotch of inky darkness engulfs them, the victim will fall as if dead for a short period of time. However, soon after the transformation is complete and they become a Shade. The Gods were unaffected by Chanblight but Humans, Glayshans and many animals could be afflicted. The first case of Chainblight was found in 652 EOG where a small village was completely transformed into Shades. The military were sent in to quell the outbreak but the cause remained undiscovered. It only appeared twice after this, once in 1073 EOG and again in the era defining fall of the Usurper Trinity in 21 EOM.
