Morphestian (ˈmȯr-ˌfest-ē-en)

The reflections of the lantern's light is not that of the innocent.

The primary dwellers of the dreamscape, the morphestians are abnormal deer-like outsiders who control dreams and can inflict sleep on unsuspecting travellers.   Physical Description: The morphestian is an odd case, looking like bipedal deer with next to no humanoid features barring their overall gait. They have very lithe chests and that their shoulders mostly wrap around rather then jut out, heavily mirroring a deer's own upper chest and causing their arms to lay against their bodies similar to a kangaroo and other similar creatures, making them seem aggressively bestial compared to other races with features that mirror beasts. Their hands end in 3 black keratin coated fingers, one of which being their thumb. The head of the morphestian is identical to that of a deer, including overall neck shape in how it connects to the body, though their eyes have pitch white eyes. All morphestians both male and female possess antlers capable of entering odd formations but do not seem to serve a purpose of sparring between morphestians, instead, seeming to exist as a form a importance. They possess a tiny tuft of fur as a tail similar to deer though commonly their tails have odd patterns on them such as triangles or star shaped objects. Lower still, despite being bipedal, the morphestian's legs are nigh indistinguishable from a deer or stag's, down even to the taste, though they can end up more muscular due to bearing more weight.

Society: Morphestian culture primarily focuses on the cultivating of the dreaming world of morphest, hoping to cultivate good dreams for the material world. As they live in a world of imagination and dreams, all forms of business and trade lack any real meaning as any of them can have whatever they wish at any moment and can perceive the realm around them as whatever it is they consider things as. Though older and stronger morphestian's do hold more sway and prestige compared to younger ones, the need to enforce order is not particularly necessary unless a lesson is meant to be taught. There are an exception to the morphestian culture of dream cultivation, these exceptions are called nightmare morphestians, who instead cause harm to the dreaming world and seek to produce nightmares and cause harm to those who have the nightmares they implanted into the waking world, such creatures are powerful and commonly agents of morphesto directly, acting as per his demands.   Relations: Morphestian's primarily reside in the realm of morphest, as such, they commonly stand out in the material realm of malbaar, they can often cause trouble for the inhabitants and their presence is considered a divination in the eyes of the followers of morphesto. However their otherworldly view can often put them at odds with superstitious people, such as dwarves or northerners.   Alignment and Religion: Morphestian's solely worship Morphesto as their patron deity due to Morphesto directly being the pinnacle of their existence as the uncontested god of dreams and nightmares. Morphestian's however only show an alignment bias towards lawful, and still be of any alignment.   Adventurers: Morphestian's normally do not stray too long from the realm of morphest, but those who do will often let their curiousity for the waking world get the better of them. These morphestians often make great shamans and druids thanks to their understanding of abnormal concepts from their dreaming existence.
