Clan Iraenox (I-ruh-nocks)
Fifth Clan of the dark elves, Iraenox is the most highly regarded and talented clan in military matters. Clan Iraenox is one of the oldest and most senior clans in the High Circle of Ligeoa. The first Iraenox leader in the Dark Caverns Y’lasrea was a passionate follower of Larissa, one of her inner circle, and was the first to swear loyalty to Ligeoa when she rejected the elves and changed her name, blooding Adenshur the Clan Dagger soon after the Betrayal.
Clan Iraneox had a long and distinguished prowess in miltary matters, with superior training and skills, particularly distinguished amongst males of the Dark Elves, and as such Iraenox generals frequently led dark elf incursions into dwarven lands, against underground monsters and adversaries, and because of their ligh degree of loyalty to Ligeoa, and competent professionalism they were frequently used by the godess as her personal police force in inter-clan conflicts requirig military intervention. House Iraenox was a frequent target of spying by the dwarven government.
Two other notable items were associated with Clan Iraenox, the first their invention and use of black fire, a magic spell that produces a parculiar fire that sheds no light, but burns more hotly than common fire or typical spell fire. The black fire spell was highly coveted by other dar elf clans as it allowed Iraenox troops access to heat and the superior nutritional value of cooked protiens during covert operations. The Black Fire Massacrewas so named because the back fire spell was lost from the dark elves when the practioners of the spell were all murdered, and their assassins failed to secure any spellbooks which contained the spell including the Tome of Ghym.
The second item of note was the Tome of Ghym, the Iraenox clan matriarch's spellbook. This spellbook was the oldest spellbook of any amongst the dark elves outside Ligeoa's own personal spellbook, and predated the Betrayal.
Clan Iraenox became extinct amongst the dark elves as a result of the Black Fire Massacre.
