Haln
Haln Son of Aleyn
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Haln is in good physical health. He is fit and athletic.

Facial Features
He has a soft face with warm brown eyes and a button nose. The corners of his mouth are naturally turned up so he always looks like he's smiling.
Special abilities
Haln is very good with horses, more so than most of his tribe, which is why some think he can actually talk to them.
Apparel & Accessories
Haln usually wears practical clothing made from rough, sturdy fabric that keeps him warm, as well as leather and fur. His clothes are kept in brown tones.
Specialized Equipment
He always carries a knife and some rope with him, as well as a book detailing trades, a callendar, the moonphases and all sorts of important things.

Personal history
Haln was born to Tribe Chief Halën's daughter Aleyn and her husband Tamon. From an early age he loved being near the horses and wanted to learn everything there is to know about them.
When Haln was five, a terrible storm destroyed most of the tribe's equippment and they lost almost half their horses. Not only that but the herbs the nomads collected and traded with were also ruined for the most part. Haln's father saw it as his duty as the husband of the future tribe chief to ensure the survival of the tribe. Thus, he left to find work in order to afford paying for repairs, new equipment and for the tribe to somehow make it through winter.
For two years birds kept bringing money and small messages every month and the tribe could recover from the harsh setback. The birds came from all different directions however, after two years none came to the tribe anymore.
Haln's mother grieved as she feared the worst had happened to her husband and Haln, only seven at that time, tried to comfort his mother even though he didn't understand why she was so sad all of a sudden. But as time went on and there were still no birds in sight, Haln began to understand that something must have happened to his father.
Seeing his mother's sadness that she only slowly recovered from, he swore to himself to go find his father one day. This is where Haln's obsession with stories from foreign places and far away lands started. But as he got older, he took on more and more duties to help his tribe, with everyone looking at him as their future leader. Feeling more and more confined by his duties and the expectations of his tribe, he started giving up on his dream of travelling all over Arregeas and finding his father, settling for doing the utmost for his tribe instead.

Education
Haln is learning everything he can from his grandmother Halën, because he is expected to one day take over the tribe, even though succession through bloodlines isn't really a thing in the nomadic tribes. He also learns from the four councillors and occasionally from Bileyn and Lymela. During his time in cities the nomads trade with, he reads every book he can get his hands on.
Employment
Haln doesn't currently hold any position or title in the tribe, but he helps out where he can. Most of his time during their travels is spent looking after the horses and he helps his mother and a few others prepare meals. He also helps with rough work such as setting up camp and carrying heavy equipment.

Haln knows that he might take over the tribe one day and he is determined to be a great leader, but deep in his heart he would love to travel outside the Western Plains, find his father and explore the rest of the world.
