Syrima Forest

The Syrima forest is a relatively cold forest, and becomes extremely cold in the more northern portions and in the areas closer to the Horthar Mountains. Orc tribes, ogres, and gnolls are very common here, trolls can also be found, and the unlucky traveler may find the occasional far-venturing frost giant in the more eastern and northern portions. Centaurs also inhabit the forest, they dislike travelers but won't attack them unless they are provoked or the travelers come to close to a large group of them, though they will often give warning first.

The Syrima forest is rarely traveled into by humanoids due to the fact that there is no real purpose of doing so, as it does not provide a significantly quicker route to anywhere, unless someone is trying to travel through the Horthar Mountains from the more northern portion of the land. Even these people, however, will often travel around the forest to avoid the dangers as long as speed is not especially important.

Ecosystem

Pretty much everything living in this forest is trying to eat everything else. The small and herbivorous creatures do their best to avoid all of the predators trying to kill them. Anything in this forest has to be on constant alert to avoid being crushed, eaten, dismembered, or otherwise harmed by its other inhabitants.

Fauna & Flora

In addition to the more humanoid inhabitants, the Syrima Forest is filled with bears, wolves, and owlbears. In the more southeastern portions, chimeras can occasionally be found patrolling the borders of their mountain territories and girallons can be found in the southern areas.

Most of the plant life in this forest is made up of pine trees and shrubbery, with occasional leafy trees in the more southern areas.
