KINGDOM OF KESSIA (kes-si-a)
Summary
The Kingdom of Kessia is a nation within the continent of Tushora, being apart of the coastal nations that borders the Fresh Seas. Kessia is located north of the Royal Creshona Union, and northwest of the Eyfra Commonwealth. Kessia is known for its mountainous areas with the highest peaks located in the central areas. The capital city of Kessia is called Wedrington.Structure
Government
The Government of Kessia consist of three branches that form the governance of the nation. The Royal House of Kessia is where the monarchs who hold the Kessian Throne are from, where a unbroken line of rulers has born from ever since the nation's founding. Unlike other kingdoms, every male member of the royal house is eligible for the throne and must be chosen by both the King and the Royal Parliament. The Kessia Kings do not wield absolute power. The Kessia Parliament is the legislative branch of the Kessia Royal Government, who has the power to pass legislation regarding many issues that affect the nation. They also have the power to either nullify or codify decrees made by the king. The Parliament is headed by a Prime minister who is chosen from the members of the both parliament houses by the King. The Kessia Parliament consist of two houses: the Noble House and the Common House. No house of Parliament is considered lower than the other as both houses are equal within Parliament. The Noble house consist of members of Kessian nobility who are chosen to be representatives. The Noble House wears the color Red, leading to the nickname "Reds." The Common house consist of elected individuals from the people to represent their interests, commonly from people of good standing. The Common House wears the color blue, giving them the nickname "Blues." The court system of Kessia is headed by the Supreme Court of Kessia, which is the highest court in the nation. Below them are the Senior Courts located in various parts of the nation, which are also called the Royal Appellate courts. The Magistrate Courts are where the minor cases are heard.Military
The main military force of Kessia are called the Kessia Royal Military, where the King is considered by Kessian law the Commander-in-chief. The Kessian military consist of the Royal Army, Crownguard, and the Royal Navy. The various branches of the Kessian military are headed by a Royal Admiral, with all three forming the Royal Military Council to advise the King on all major military matters.
The Kessian nobility are allowed to maintain private forces headed by Knight Orders tied to their individual house, but are forbidden to recruit from the Kessian military (discharged military personnel are an exception). These noble orders are required to cooperate with the main Kessian Royal forces in times of conflict by law.
