HONSAP (Hon-sap)
Overview
Honsap is a sweet and pleasant-smelling substance made from the sap from Honsap Trees. Honsap Trees store sugar within their trunks and roots before the cold season, and rises into the Honsap during the early Spring seasons. Honsap is collected from large secretions from a honsap tree's flowers and branches. Once collected in very large amounts, the sap is further refined by simple water evaporation until the final concentrated Honsap.History & Usage
Discovery
Honsap was first discovered by the Gershonite people when they first settled into their homeland, as their farmers were surveying the land one day. They noticed a sweet aroma in the air, and sought to discover the source. They found a large group of Honsap trees that was releasing Honsap onto the ground. The farmers became curious about the sap from the trees & collected several containers. Upon consuming some of it, they realized that it was a good source of food. Word of this discovery quickly spread among the Gershonite tribes, and soon people found Honsap throughout the land. They also began to collect Honsap seeds to grow more Honsap trees.
Everyday use
Honsap is used by the peoples of Gershon & Kerrosano for leaven breads, flatcakes, Caldon toast, adding flavor into various beverages, cooking, baking, and the very famous Honsap Cobbler. Honsap has a high amount of energy density that makes it a important food for explorers, adventurers, hunters, farmers, etc. Especially in more warmer climates.
Distribution
Trade & Market
Honsap is often sold by family-owned vendors who sell it in various amounts at Harvester Markets, where it is highly sought after by many people native to Gershon and non-natives. it is not uncommon to see non-natives buy large containers of Honsap to bring with them back to their homes, or manage delivery from said vendors in large shipping containers.
Law & Regulation
There are laws put into place by the Gershon High Council that ensures that there is no excessive pricing of Honsap by vendors, and allow proper inspection by trained Zethamites who determine if the Honsap is viable for selling to the public. These laws ensures that the Honsap is not given to the public is contaminated, with any offender given arrested & punished for any corrupted Honsap. The charges can vary based on the offense. Alchemical usage of Honsap is expressly forbidden. So long as these laws are obeyed, there is no restriction on the selling of Honsap to the public nor how much. That is left up to the vendors and their customers.
