DAXLENS (dax-lens)

The main force that defends the city of Daxlens is known as the Daxlen Guard, a commissioned force by the High Government that oversees all law enforcement & military defense of the city. They are divided between the law enforcement branch and the military branch, with both ensuring that order and peace are maintained in the city. There are also various communication towers meant for quick communication in the city in times of emergency. Empowered shields are located underneath the city grounds that can be raised to act as a barrier against invasions, and has proven effective against pirate raids in the past. The walls of the city are made with a combination of Durastone (a stone found to be just as strong as the strongest metals) and reinforced metals to add greater protection beyond the shields. There are also various weapon placements located along the walls of Daxlens, which to be the defense against any hostile force approaching the city.

The city of Daxlens has a troubled history due to the various bouts of infighting by the powerful barons and high-status citizens who often have vie for influence in the city and neighboring villages, to the point of all-out conflicts that have taken place. This is due to different ambitious individuals attempting to achieve the greatest influence in the city, with the hopes of gaining the governor's seat. This has resulted in the city needing to be rebuilt many times due to the destruction inflicted.

There were also pirate raids led by powerful pirate lords that resulted in further destruction of the city at times from the fighting & pillaging that occur. The pirate lords of Swindon were once a feared problem that stretched the local defense forces thin. The Governor's hand were tied due to the warring factions' influence over certain industries, and going after them would have resulted in harming the citizens unless marital law was declared. The governor chose to call for aid from the High Government, reporting on the behavior of the local powers and the pirate raids.

The High Government send a large occupying force to overtake the city, and install an interim government to restore order. The barons and guild masters responsible for the fighting were removed from their positions by a Tribunal, and a task force launched a surprise raid upon the forces of a marauding pirate lord. The pirate lord retreated back to Swindon, barely escaping with his life. The High Government forces remained in Daxlens for several months, installing new leadership that brought new laws meant to curb future incidents of infighting. Daxlens was returned to its people, with future Governors able to hold office effectively. Still, the undercurrent of potential feuds turning into full-blown conflicts remains.....
