Whisper Woods
Noiseless, peaceful, Whisper Woods,The infamous Whisper Woods is a large section of corrupted forest located near the Oreion town of Steelwood in North-Eastern Solanus. It has long been an area the local populace avoid due to its inherent danger, as well as a point of interest for the Oreion Inquisition's inquisitors. The Solanians were not the only group on Solanus that held great power and constructed impressive civilizations during the age of monsters. Many of the northern elves and humans of the continent banded together to make grand homes for themselves in the forests of what would later be Oreion. The most impressive of these was known as GildGarden, a elvish nation that took pride in their care of nature and mastery of both druidic and arcane magic. Beautiful marble towers soon rose above the treeline, with the magnificent elvish architecture blending seemlessly with the trees below. This paradise would not remain idyllic forever. Many of the elves and humans still heavily felt the loss of their once long life-spans due to the ravages of The Cataclysm. In the midst of research to prolong and expand their lifetimes, ruins older than the forests itself were discovered under GildGarden. The ruins were filled with raw primordial life energy; and experiments were soon conducted in order to harvest and use the substance. Led by the city's High Conservator, many of the citizens began to try and manipulate the energy underneath the woods in the hopes of restoring their lost immortality. It is unclear what exactly transpired next, but before long a maddening corruption began to seep into the woods, originating from Gildgarden. The city itself was torn asunder, and the corruptive energies bloomed out for miles until they settled and seeped into the trees and ground itself. Surviving people that fled the devastation would go on to found House Darkcorht, naming the now corrupted section of forest after the royal family that once ruled the beautiful city. Now the ruins of Gildgarden lie below a dense forest canopy that blocks out most sunlight, stagnating in darkness. The trees of the whisper woods appear diseased and withered, though those brave enough to venture into the woods and return claim that the land still teems with life vibrantly. Towards the center of the woods, some of the corrupted trees and vines seem to have the shape and patterns of humanoid figures. If one listens closely, they may be able to hear these ghastly forms whispering to them ever so softly...
Each are welcome, remove your hoods,
Soft magic wafting through the air,
Soon you’ll frolic without a care!
Slowly, fully, worries gone,
Warm and too tired to go on.
Sacred woods are the best,
Down you lay for a long, long rest.
