Arkellion

The world of Arkellion was once filled with all forms of magic. Great empires of Giants, Elves, Dwarves, and other Faerie creatures roamed at large. The legends claim that magical energies were so thick as to be seen and felt by mere mortals. This, however, was tens of thousands of years ago.   Through many ages, seeing the rise and fall of countless empires, kingdoms, and civilizations, the magic of Arkellion has all but disappeared. Humans make up the vast majority of the peoples of the world, with many varied cultures and customs. Elves and other more mystical creatures have not become extinct, but have become exceedingly rare. Small tribes of such creatures still roam the less civilized parts of the world, while others may live alongside Humans. Typically, however, any non-Human creature is treated with at least a bit of caution.   Magic has not completely vanished. A few powerful Mages and Priests with Divine Magic can be found scattered throughout the world. Though while once all sentient creatures of Arkellion could feel and manipulate magical energies, those with the gift are now exceedingly rare. Many non-Humans still can manipulate the flow of magic, but among humans, typically only 1 in 100,000 can develop any sort of magical skills.   In recent years, a surge of magical awakening has begun. While still exceedingly rare, more Humans than ever have begun to feel the workings of magic. The ancient places of the world seem to have begun stirring. Monsters and Mythical creatures once thought extinct have been sighted all throughout the lands. And the once-dormant gods, have shown their power once more. There are those who are excited by these prospects. Others, however, fear the end of days is upon the world of Arkellion.
