Duke of freedom

The Duke of freedom is the head of the Gaipia Republic. It is a highest honor for a person of Gaipia to do. Many of the youth of Gaipia Republic have dreams or hopes to serve as the Duke of Freedom. The term for the Duke of Freedom lasts for twenty years. Two years before the current Duke of freedom is to finish their term is when the selection begins for the next one. This is a long process which starts in the different districts of Gaipai Republic. Each district sends a candidate that has been chosen by vote by the people in that district. Some of these districts have to hold a few of these to narrow the candidates down. Once all of the district candidates have been chosen they come together to meet the Freedom council.
  The Freedom council is a new people each time. It is made up of a mix of people from Gaipia Republic and the Tudic kingdom. They try to make sure there is a mix of all social classes on this Freedom council. The how of choosing the Duke of Freedom is up to the Freedom council. Depending on how the Freedom council chooses it can take as little as a day to months to decide. Now once the decision has been made they start the process of the change over. This starts with the current Duke of Freedom and incoming Duke of Freedom meeting. This is the first of several meetings. Depending on how long it took to pick these meetings can happen over the next few months to just a few days. For the Change of the Duke day is set on the calendar. The Change of the Duke day is then a celebrated day with speeches from the old Duke of Freedom and the New Duke of Freedom, and ends with a huge party in the capital.
