The Elves of Argull

Argull has four known Elven kindreds;
  • The Wood Elves of Twizrel Forest - playable
  • The Wood Elves of Glasheim - playable
  • The Drow of the Underice - playable
  • The Fae of Sidhiara - not playable
  •   Of these, the wood elves of Twizrel Forest and Glasheim consider themselves to be related branches of the same race. The Drow and Sidhiarans do not consider any of the other kindreds to be of the same species. The Drow and Sidhiarans will fight each other on sight, while regarding the wood elves as no more than some kind of inferior forest dwelling nature spirit.     The Wood Elves   The two Wood Elf kindreds are physically very similar, with the fine features and pointed ears typically seen in elves. They are generally a little shorter than average humans. Both tend towards reclusiveness, but are happy to trade and interact with other races as long as they feel respected and don't have their boundaries pushed.   The main way to identify which type of wood elf you are speaking to is as simple as looking at what they are wearing. The Glasheim elves, coming from a somewhat higher latitude, tend to dress in warm tunics and cloaks dappled in woodland colours. The elves of Twizrel Forest prefer to be naked or to wear only a minimal loincloth, but use body paint in camouflage colours to great effect, to the point where their lack of clothing becomes almost irrelevant.     The Drow of the Underice   The drow live in a highly structured and militarised society, ruled by a class of divinely appointed priestesses. They consider themselves the instruments of Araushnee's will on Argull with a direct personal connection to her through her Handmaidens. Physically, the drow conform to the stereotype of elven features with black or grey skin, and a deep aversion to sunlight.     The Sidhiarans   Even the other elves consider the Sidhiarans downright weird ! It is questionable whether they are even truly elves at all. They have a strange life cycle that appears to transcend death, is opaque to outsides and poorly understood. Their social structure is, on the face of it, a monarchy. Yet every Sidhiaran appears to hold some kind of noble title and the society appears to lack commoners of any kind. Their lives appear to be highly ritualised, yet it is unclear what purpose the rituals serve, or how they impact the social status of the participants.   The sage Halvilas of Filrath has opined that Sidhiaran society, and the Sidhiarans themselves, appear to suffer from some kind of deep communal insanity.
