Halley
The wrong place at the wrong time.
Halley
It is only a moment, only the briefest glimpse into something that runs so deep and so unfathomably bloody, before Apep disconnects from them.
They see it -- the hate, a wound festering for thirty long years, rotting him from the inside out until nothing was left but seething, blind rage, the elation of being free, and the stomach-churning sick triumph he feels from doing this to them.
What has he done?
There’s blood on his hands. There’s blood. God, there’s so much blood. It’s on them now, too. Oh, god. Oh, god, they have to get it off. Get it out. It’s in them, the link brought it and now it’s in them, washing like a wave like a sea human corpses crushing depths like the marianas trench, a flattened skull a twisted neck intestines draped like vines in a jungle like jet-trails in the sky like plumes of a rocket. The last two demons on earth hibernating in a lab freezer in Atlanta in Moscow waiting coiled like a viper in a pile of leaves malicious and unfeeling and single-minded. They’re full of offal, they’re full of viscera that doesn’t BELONG. This isn’t theirs ((it never WAS)) How did it get here? ſkeletons danse, blacken’d Bones charr’d to Ash. Why is it that you are so tethered to your body, ʜᴀʟʟᴇʏ? 01010010 01101001 01100100 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 01110010 01110011 01100101 01101100 01100110 00100000 01101111 01100110 00100000 01110100 01101000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01110100 01101000 01101001 01101110 01100111 00101110get it out get it OUT GET IT OUT GET IT OUT GET IT OUT GET IT OUT
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Huge, noodly, surprisingly sharp. Still has the unfettered strength of a TKL-V infected Shoggoth, but refuses to use it.
Body Features
Under their ever-present blanket, Halley is a formless, Gordian tangle of wires of all colors, bits of broken plastic, twisted metal, and shattered glass caught in the great knot of their body, wires writhing with every move they make.
Facial Features
Halley's original display was lost to the transformation brought on by TKL-V, but they were given a new one by Sasser once they were fixed up. Their new display is a flat, black tablet, the kind mechs use as temporary replacements when techs break their screens. As they always have, they represent their face as a single eye.
Physical quirks
Halley shuffles slowly from place to place, even in public, to avoid startling anyone who might see them. They often wring their hands and fiddle with their wires, especially while talking to others.
Apparel & Accessories
Halley has a pale blue and white spotted blanket that they wear draped around themself everywhere they go, received as a gift from Brick. They treasure the blanket like nothing else.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
A software developer for the International Society for Space Exploration and Discovery (ISSED), Halley is one of the ISSED's newest batch of techs, and is the youngest of the Astronomer group.
When they accompanied Delphi on a visit upsea on the thirtieth anniversary of the crash of Space Shuttle Barque and the death of Apep, Halley disappeared, before reappearing with Delphi, who claimed they were the victim of some dread virus, reduced to a feral, shambling pile of wires and scrap.
Even though there were many shoggoths, they were the first, and for a long time, only one to be rescued and cured of TKL-V. The memories of what they did under its grip haunt them, and, though they've found a home among friends, they find it hard to shake the horrors of the past.

Employment
Created to work for ISSED. Halley is not directly involved in spaceflight, but makes indispensable and necessary programs for the missions, a job which had previously been handled solely by humans. As they still work with ISSED, they live primarily upsea, occasionally visiting Argensa.
Failures & Embarrassments
Halley considers the very fact that they are a shoggoth to be a great failure in and of itself. Don't mention Delphi around them. Please don't mention Delphi around them.
Mental Trauma
Halley suffers from PORT, severe to the point where it would be considered Statue Sickness. They are convinced that they are nothing more than a disgusting, violent monster.
Morality & Philosophy
Halley is excessively gentle in everything they do, as they are deathly afraid of hurting any more people than they already have, be that physically or mentally. They hate scaring people, and rarely, if ever, venture outside unless absolutely necessary.
Taboos
As a Shoggoth, Halley is shunned and reviled by most of tech society, who deeply fear any reminder of death. The sight of broken glass and warped metal is enough to make most techs ill, and Halley is all too aware of this, often hiding themself behind a blanket, rarely, if ever, leaving the company of their friends in Scofflaw Terrace.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Halley is still rather lost in the world after becoming a shoggoth. They want to go back to ISSED, sure, but...they aren't sure they ever could, after what they've done, no matter if it was under the grip of an override.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Halley is still a skilled software developer, and keenly aware of recent developments in aerospace science. They are, however, horrible at making friends.
Social
Social Aptitude
Bad. They had always been rather introverted and shy, and this has only made things all the worse.
