The Whispering Mountains
Geography
The Whispering Mountains are fold mountains that create the Western 'border' of Argeddon. The mountains are extremely thick and considered impassable. Many explorers through the ages have ventured on and never returned. There have even been explorers who have travelled along the coasts, yet there have been no ships returned.
While the continent of Apalypse does exist on the other side of the mountains, the Whispering Mountains essentially cuts off the two continents from each other. The citizens of Argeddon have no idea what lies beyond the mountains, but of course there are theories.
History
The Whispering Mountains actually used to be two mountain ranges, however the entire tectonic plate is being 'squeezed' upwards. The religions in Argeddon have stories that tell of the mountain range's creation.
The Whispermen are actually from the other side of the mountains. They had travelled the two mountain ranges and settled on the other side, but have since become trapped in Argeddon and separated from their homeland.
The mountain range's name comes from the time of magic. There are tales of ghosts and other creatures that howl in the Mountains. It is said that the mountains are extremely haunted, and entering the mountains you can hear whispering.
