War for Rythkar

The War for Rythkar was a large conflict between the majority of chromatic dragons and giants in Arvyr over control of Rythkar, a mountainous region that both parties hoped to control. Most importantly, it was the precursor for the Draconic Revolution.

The Conflict

Prelude

The War for Rythkar was foreshadowed from the day giants and dragons both began living in Arvyr. Rythkar had long been an area of conflict that the two parties would fight over, but it had never before escalated into full war. This changed when a group of giants tunnelled underneath the mountains, breaking into the cavernous lair of the green dragon Abraläch and killing him. From this point on, the minor skirmishes exploded into total war.

Outcome

This resulted in the giants becoming the dominant creatures in Arvyr, with many of the dragons being forced farther south. It also caused a considerably sized group of chromatic dragonborn to escape their lives of slavery and go into hiding in western Arvyr.
