The Undying Court

The Undying Court is one of the most unique forms of leadership within any country. It consists of a massive council of elves who have proven themselves worthy of a seat on the council. Becoming worthy is something that is not strictly mandated, and is instead based off of the judgements of the mortal elven leaders as well as the members of the Undying Court, with the Undying Court having the final say in the acceptance of an individual. Generally, the individual must be of great accomplishment and have shown themselves to be a great thinker and/or a wise sage.   They are seated in the elven city of Maellenor, which, while not the capital, serves as the spiritual center of Tannith and, in a way, the whole of elvenkind. While the Seldarine have somewhat strict rules concerning the worship of other gods, they tolerate and even encourage the existence of the Undying Court. They serve as the most direct mouthpiece between the Seldarine and elves, interpreting many of the visions they receive. The members of the Court are unique in that they can actually bestow divine powers to individuals, allowing them to have their own clerics.   In terms of governmental and legislative involvements within Tannith, they serve almost as a parliamentary body that advises and controls the power of the royalty. They were one of the major parties involved in the creation and diplomatic missions thereof in the process of creating a peace treaty to end the Great Iribaltine War.

Public Agenda

To serve as the holy leaders of the elves and lead them forwards as the Seldarine so please.

History

The Undying Court was established thousands of years ago shortly after the elves escaped Arvyr and established Tannith, the first of the Thelnorei Nations. The first of the Undying would go on to become baelnorns, powerful undead guardians of the sacred places of the elves, during the First Desolation. Since then, the Undying Council has served as a source of great wisdom and protection to the elves. They have remained incredibly secretive, however, with next to no one of any race other than elves having seen or talked to a member of it, let alone be let inside of the council hall. Even among elves, it is very rare to enter the council hall or talk to the members. Most individuals that do visit only do so a mere handful of times in their lives.
