Tear of Agdolath
Tears of Agdolath were ancient amulets created by the Cult of Agdolath. They were only worn by those who were deemed worthy; anyone else who would try to wear them would suffer horrific visions and would either be left comatose after the visions subsided or would die from the sheer horror of the visions. The pendants themselves were described as a small, jagged, tear-shaped gems that glowed a pale turquoise, with blackened, metal cephalopod arms encircling them and connecting them to the black, metal chain that they all hung from.
History
Tears of Agdolath ellude common knowledge, but even experts on the Cult of Agdolath know very little about them, due to their dangerous properties, as well as the fact that almost all of them are missing. To this day, only one has been relocated and it currently resides in the Odrax Museum of Ancient History. What is known is that they were worn only by Agdolath's high priestesses, during the time when Old Erith still stood. They were tokens of her favor, only being given to those who were worthy of the honor and to those Agdolath trused most. In addition, they allowed for their wearers to wield the terrifying power of their undersea mistress. After the destruction of Old Erith, however, most were washed away by the tidal wave and lost to time. Only seven were ever created.
Significance
According to current theories and discussions, Tears of Agdolath were considered the representation of Agdolath's anger, loneliness and sorrow, due to the rest of her kind being culled by the Gods. Thus, being in possession and being able to wear Tears of Agdolath were not only seen as divine favor within her cult, but also seen as tokens of trust and love, after thousands of years of having to live alone.
