The Eye of the Sky Needle

The Eye of the Sky Needle is the hole in the end of a needle in a sculpture in the centre of town. The light shines through the eye onto the ground/wall behind it and indicates the time of day. Meals, seasons, etc.   The mural it passes over has been there as long as the statue. There are certain images on the wall that the townsfolk hope are never lit up. Legend has it that there was a woman who had to mend a tear in the sky and they built a statue to honour her. Some say the sky was torn in a battle, others say a wild creature was threatening the town and tore the sky in a rampage. Perhaps it was a wizards spell that went awry?   It is mostly historical now but it used to be used much more frequently for Guiding planting, rituals and ceremonies in the town. Nowadays it is mostly used during the New Year Festival days as part of celebrating and honouring the gods.   Women gather and sew/mend in the warmer evenings while catching up on news and gossip. In colder months bonfires may be held here on weekends while courtships and flirtations flourish and cosy warm drinks are served.
