Crimson Scourge

The Crimson Scourge skulk in and around the Forest of Tears. They prowl mostly at night and their shrieks are enough to turn your blood to stone. Those who live nearby bar the village gates at night and none dare wander outside after sundown. Descriptions vary but all have a creature with many whips, or whip like limbs, that flail as they head through the underbrush. Some say they can swing through the trees using these appendages. The tale of their emergence lays in the aftermath of the war that raged on this land. It's said that those who were at the crux of the wars instigation deeply regret the blood that was spilled here and are cursed to roam the forest, whipping themselves in penance for the bloodshed they caused.
