Starting the Design process

I came into architecture from a love of historic buildings, a time where you could tell a lot about the personality of people by their house and it is that love that is leading the design choices in this project.
  The plot for this project has two big Ficus that have to be presserved.
 

First idea

The first models I did showcased a water element with greenery suronded by the building (think a Roman vila). The shape didn't stay but the water did.
 

Current Shape

The shape evolved and now seems like a wonky = on the ground floor and a wonky H for the first floor. The first floor connects the two rectangles that continue up from the ground floor.
