Humanity set its gaze to the stars, the stars came to them, with weapons it its alien, robotic hands.

...From seemingly out of nowhere, several warships appeared in our skies, and rained fire down upon us. The departing colony ships were vaporized in orbit. The aliens were robotic in nature, with an intelligence beyond everything anyone thought possible from a robotic form. It was soon determined that they operate under a form of hivemind. Survivors of each battle called them the Mechrion. Humanity was pulled out of a golden age, into a dark age nearly over night. The Element Zero extraction satellites were destroyed, most of all fertile land was destroyed. The Golden World Coalition fell, and the United Order of National Discoveries soon followed. The Golden World Protection Force held on for as long as they could, but in the end, they fell as well.
