Discovery is driven by problems of one's surroundings. If there is a problem, someone will try to fix said problem.

The United Order of National Discoveries, (Or U.O.N.D.) has always been a vital part of man's journey into the unknown. Their greatest discovery, in 2336 A.D. was that of Element Zero. It is Matter without form. Once thought impossible, is discovered to be the very thing that space is made of. At first, U.O.N.D. didn't know how to use this material. In 2341, they determined that it is only without form because no one has told it what form it should take. It was discovered to not only be matter without form, but programable as well. Humanity could make anything with enough Element Zero, and the right amount of energy.   Its first use was as fuel. The energy it could make replaced nuclear energy basically over night. Once they figured out how to program it, they made everything that any individual could ever think of. The only thing it couldn't do, was make another living thing. To make a living thing, you need something that science has yet to explain. Many said how the only one who can grant life is God Himself. This only reinforced that logic. Still, everything else was made possible. This discover started a series of discoveries that made up what many people now call a golden age.
