Ship classes

There are three main classes used to define ships. Each class is further divided to provide an accurate description.

There are two significant engine definitions: Antimatter, and Angel. These two broad categories are then further broken down into smaller and smaller categories to give more refinement in identifying engines.

Angel Drive

An Angel drive was the first engines made and used by the early humans from Nyros. It is often regarded as the slower of the two reactor drives, however some classes of Angel Drives can sometimes outpace Antimatter drives.

Angel-1:

The generic term for the fastest Angel drive is "1", which increases as the speed decreases. For example, "Angel 2" engines are slower, as well as 3, 4, 5 and so on. The "1" class of Angel drives travel around 82.874% the speed of light, or 0.82 sols (speed of lights)

Angel-2:

Angel-2 ships travel slower than "1"s, at the rough speed of 70.498% the speed of light - 0.7 sols.

Angel-3:

These ships travel at 61.54% the speed of light - 0.61 sols

Angel-4:

It was an Angel-4 ship that was first used for the Launch of the Exploritor Mission, with the aim of never returning home to Nyros, and finding a new habitable planet to colonise, sparking the beginning of the Empires. Angel-4 ships travel at around 53.76% the speed of light or around 0.53 sols (speed of lights), which is by far extremely fast, but in the grand scheme of interstellar civilisations, very slow.

Angel-5:

Angel-5 class ships are nicknamed a "snail engine" for they travel at only 42.56% the speed of light or around 0.42 sols (speed of lights) These types of reactor engines were the first developed by Silas Orn, the founder of interstellar travel, and a genius in mathematics, engineering and science. He spent most of his life working towards progressing humanity further and further into deep space travel. Once he had completed the Angel-5 engine, he worked on the Angel-4 engine, but unfortunately died before completing

Antimatter Drive

Antimatter drives are different to Angel drives. These newer drives get their energy and propulsion through advanced uses of antimatter, a strange substance that has the opposite qualities to matter. Some antimatter materials give more energy than others, whereas some other antimatter gives off less energy.

Anti-1:

Saying "Antimatter" all the time would get too long, so it was shortened to "Anti". The fastest antimatter reactor to date is the class "Anti-1", which travels at around 500x faster than the speed of light, or 500 sols. To actually use this reactor engine, requires the utmost science and engineering skills, for one wrong move or action could implode the entire engine.

Anti-2:

These ships travel at around 432x the speed of light - 432 sols

Anti-3:

Anti-3 ships can travel at roughly 323x faster than the speed of light, which is 323 sols. The jump threshold is around 300 sols, meaning this ship can actually, successfully jump across space. Unfortunately, Anti-4 engine ships are just below the threshold, meaning rank 3, 2 and rank 1 ships all classify for the jump limit. 323 sols is purely an average for the speed that Anti-3s travel, you can go slower or faster, but around that number is the Anti-3 class. As soon as a ship passes 300 sols it instantly becomes an Anti-3.

Anti-4:

As stated above, "Anti-4" ships cannot pass the jump threshold needed to use the ability. They travel at around 246 sols or 246 times faster than light.

Anti-5:

These ships travel at around 113x the speed of light - 113 sols

Anti-6:

These ships travel at around 80x the speed of light - 80 sols
