Personal history
Sapine was always a mischievous kid, from a mischievous family. It’s a family tradition to go traveling to collect stories before returning home. Only ⅔ of the family members actually stay home after their initial travels, the other ⅓ preferring to keep making more stories and swinging by every once in a while to entertain the others. As a kid, she was super interested in fey and even met a couple in the woods where she lived. At one point, she fell from a tree as a kid and broke her arm, which never healed quite right. As Sapine grew older, she discovered what some of the more destructive fey had done to the surrounding area and decided to try and defend her home from the destructive fey, while maintaining good terms with the more friendly ones. She decided the best way to do this was to become a wizard. Once she became old enough to venture out on her own to make her own stories outside of her home, Sapine went to the closest city that had a repository of knowledge and people to train her in wizardry, Carthak. However, these wizards were elitist and refused her entry. She stole a deck of tarot cards in revenge. She was then determined to pretend to be a wizard of high standing involved in advanced research. In the meantime, she went back to roaming outside of grand cities, learning the ranger trade. She found that she could sell animal pelts if she persuaded the shopkeepers that they were from rare animals or more expensive ones. Sapine often used her minor illusion ability to make the animal pelts look more expensive for pretentious merchants. Over time, she became better and better at swindling the pretentious elite in cities that she so despised. However, she does not keep all of the money she obtains. She regularly gives money swindled from rich people to the poorer parts of town, typically temples. She even managed to forge letters of correspondence to a well known wizard school, detailing her research. The current set involves her looking into natural spells, such as druidic spells to see if they could be adapted for a wizard. Her favorite animal is a crow.
