Early rival as King of the Gods to Baal. He is the god of the seas.

Personal history
He and Mot are both sons of Elun. He lives in the sea and appears as or controls Lotan, the Leviathan, that rises from the deep to dispense Yamm's will on those on the surface and shore of his realm.
He tries to claim the Kingship of the Gods and take Astarte as his wife. He is ultimately defeated by Baal and his sister Anat. He and his brother Mot are then placed in opposition to Baal and the other gods in perpetuity.
He is an untrustworthy god that must be appeased by those who travel on or near his realm of sea and river. And ultimately all must pass to the realm of Mot.
This ongoing war results in Yamm and Baal killing each other many times. But, being gods they are ressurrected and return to he battle after a time.
