Laser Guns

The average Arcadian citizen would not have access to a laser gun; rather, they would have access to a good old fashioned ammunition gun, if any. This was of course decreed by The Order of the Living God, due to the fact that laser guns are arguably more dangerous and harder to use than old-world guns. Those with access to a laser gun would be military personnel or those otherwise working in a position of public defense.   The sale and purchase of laser guns is closely guarded by The Order, but as with any other type of weapon, underground deals are bound to occur. Unlawful possession of a laser gun can result in 2+ Earth years of prison confinement in a station along The Asteroid Belt. Violent crime committed with a laser gun, or even while in possession of one, can result in a death sentence.  

Cyborg Use

While Cyborgs are general public knowledge among Arcadians, most are unaware that cyborgs in many colonies are trained in laser gun use. The trained cyborgs do not technically own the laser guns, but are merely trained in their use. Only a few select cyborgs are authorized by The Order to carry laser guns and use them outside of close-guarded training.
