Ghost Iron

Ghost Iron is a variation of iron, one of the most common elements on earth, that possesses the property that allows it to effect the ethereal creatures of the Ghostlands.
 

Origin

Ghost Iron is only found within the region known as the Ghostlands. It is believed that due to the abundance of dead spirits that pervade the region it has affected some of the material properties of certain resources within the area. The full extent of what else may be affected has not been identified, but ghost iron has at least provided more ability to explore the Ghostlands.
 

History

The properties of iron found within the Ghostlands were not discovered until rather recently and quite by accident. A group of the Wildguard were on an excursion into the region when the ghosts within the area became agitated and attacked. The Wildguard group had recently discovered an old armory or factory of some sort and during the ensuing fight where one of the members of the group grabbed a pipe or club of some sort and was able to block the incorporeal attacks the ghosts were inflicting upon the group.
  While only a third of the group was able to survive and escape region, it allowed them to relate the tale.
  Since the reveal of the knowledge further expeditions have been made specifically to lcoate sources of either raw iron or iron objects in which to reforge into weapons and armor.
 

Usage

The actual properties of ghost iron allow the metal the ability to actually touch something that is incorporeal like a ghost. While it is not capable of outright destroying the ghost for good, it does allow the Wildguard to fight back against the ghostly invasions. It can also be used to create armor and shields which blocks the attacks from the ghost touch of the undead wraiths.
