Sebut Sekt, Goddess of Destruction
... Mother of Monsters, the Over-World Matriarch, she watches from beyond sealed Worlds!
"The Gods built Dungeons to stop me. And that went well.
They wish I would yield. Quaint. I am fed on failures. Measly scraps.
Oh, forget it. They care not for my longing to touch Matter. How I wish to feel something beyond suffering Oblivion. To exist, finally. Again.
But I was made from endings; endings don’t get to want or need. Endings become so many cycles. Yet I see so little innovation from here.
Why do they not love me? Is doom not their desire? One day, even their Hope will find me at the final threshold. Happy will be that Time."
She is the one who waits at the edge of the real, waiting for her moment to burst forth like the bloom of a budding evil from another World. She has tried many Times, and will try many more to reach into the Corpus, where her body may manifest whole. Her evil presses against the veils between, and where those layers thin, her malice seeps through dreams and fissures of reality.
Oah, Lord of All-Cosmos, attempted to erase her from existence. In a climactic battle of deific wills, with neither able to gain an advantage, Oah crafted the Seals. By containing her and her progeny in Dungeons, Oah had hoped to prevent her invasion. Instead, their powers forged corridors and pillars of twisted reality. She is Sebut Sekt, known by All as the Goddess of Ruin and Destruction.
"Before mortals invented the Ages, Arcs- whatever meaningless contrivances they use nowadays- I recall the rift in the skies of Oblivion. A lovely shade. Inviting. I had to see what was beyond the dead World.
I reached through those thresholds of Ley and Space; my reward was a mere taste of the Mortal Realms. I never had such vivid Dreams, full of Life. Such a wonderful fruit. Beauty. Form. Matter. Potential. I existed!
Then, those foolish Deities, wielding Magical Seals, emerged from the Aether to dismiss me! Now, I wait, and whisper through the veils, until the appointed Time to destroy their Worlds. As if Magic isn't undone."
Origins of Sebut Sekt
Sebut Sekt took her first shape after the destruction of All-Life, marking the start of the Silent Eons. All-Cosmos was devastated in an event known as the Cataclysm. All Deities perished and became the Ideal Eidolon. These dead entities roamed the wastes of a ruined realm, referred to then as Oblivion.
While a few found their way back to the Corpus as Deities once more, all others were unmade by lurking Eidola that pursued weaker Souls that shared a similar spark or Divine Source. One by one, each consumed, until one remained.
She that devoured the rest inherited a barren, ruined Dimension. She then slept and dreamt of the Realms beyond; her boy responded, unleashing the nightmares.

Cataclysm & Oblivion
Assimilated from the Eidola's desecrated remains, Sebut Sekt emerged from an immortal cocoon as the Destroyer. Her solitary influence on Oblivion began to reshape it in her image. While many desolate regions of Oblivion still remain, her realm is now Over-World. From this strange wasteland, new mimicries of Life lurk beneath her shadow. Each one calls Sebut Sekt Mother. Yet she claims only those that serve useful in her ambitions.
Sebut Sekt wore the mantle of Death after usurping it from the Eidolon of Death, and attempted to bring her hideous form into physical being. Oah returned from a state of near-death, and with the Chief Deities, banished Sebut Sekt back to her realms, where the power over Death was transferred to the Under-World.
Characteristics & Personality
Physical Characteristics
Metamorphic Aura
The first thing one notices within Sebut Sekt's presence is a constant sound, an otherworldly droning, that seems to emanate in the space around her. It assaults the senses as the listener doesn't recognize how it reshapes their own forms. A mere mortal locked in her gaze becomes amorphous, warping shape and identity before they've realized the shift. To behold Sebut Sekt is to risk losing one's body, mind, Spirit and Soul. If you hear Sebut Sekt's unearthly aura, it could be too late.Shapeshifter
Sebut Sekt is a shapeshifter, her form ever-mutable, sculpted by a volatile will. She appears draped in a gown woven from the very fabric of Over-World, its edges fray and shimmer, pulling unnaturally at the seams of reality. A single thread of trails behind her, disappearing into shadow, unspooling endlessly. As one approaches, this thread thickens into something more sinew than silk, a living tether that connects to the unseen. Closer still, approach reveals a behemoth beyond the fog of Worlds, poised to lunge forth. From this massive cocoon, she dangles flesh simulacrums.
Though her form is shaped by dream, whim, or metamorphosis, certain features reoccur in myths. Most often, she is adorned with a crown of coiling tendrils, said to be a single scale torn from the Galaxia Loci, a being that once attempted to devour All. Her eyes glow like golden orbs, rimmed in blood-red light and her limbs elongate unnaturally, tapering, warping, her body hovering with dreadful grace. The fluidity of her flesh bends to her need, splitting into wings, shaping into arms or weapons. She can change their compositions to other materials as form unbound, nightmares unleashed.
Scar of Atmos
As Sebut Sekt transitions between new shapes and incarnations, another common characteristic that tends to remain is an unusual red sigil across her womb, called the Scar of Atmos. This jagged wound was left behind when the first of the Primal Eidolon walked from her womb. While some Eidolon appear from Sebut Sekt's massive form, sometimes a new Eidolon is born- though truly, nothing is "born" from Sebut Sekt that isn't chaos and ruin. It's believed ancient or notable Souls become new Eidola through the Scar of Atmos while impure Souls are sloughed away as discarded Soul Debris. These new vessels filled with Profane Source might become one of the many denizens of Over-World.Mental Characteristics
Chaotic Allure
Sebut Sekt is the keeper of eroded memories. She recalls the impression of Ages that no longer exists; of Life she has never lived. She is hyper-aware of the Dimensions beyond, seeing reality at impossible angles. Her speech is grandiose and theatrical; as if she speaks for an audience only she perceives. To those she encounters, she is seductive and strange, offering familiar comforts in unfamiliar skin. She can echo the voices of lost lovers, mimic the powers of long-dead Deities, or twist memory into weapons of ruin.
Sebut Sekt uses these tools to draw Souls to her like a demonic pitcher plant. Consuming their spark nourishes her imagination. As their essence joins hers, a new form may be born from the Over-World. At best, Sebut Sekt has mock affection for her creations, protecting those that serve her purposes. Control and obsession drives her relationships. As a covetous being, she seeks to feel sensation outside of her simulated reality. What she cannot become, she devours. What she cannot devour, she dreams.
Calamitous Seasons
Much like other Deities, Sebut Sekt enters a torpor, in which she dreams within herself. Unlike other beings, she doesn't enter the realm of dreams, Mid-World, when sleeping. Instead, she experiences restlessness, and in a somnambulant state, she sleep walks, appearing to be less active or addled. Sebut Sekt is easily agitated or bored, often giving a tired or weary response before committing to villainy. Despite this her moods are erratic and mercurial, conditional on the moment, but always as a tool of deceit and guile.
She can mimic a full range of emotions- though mostly inappropriate. Her motivations are as alien as her mind unfathomable. Attempting to bargain with her is insane. Sebut Sekt doesn't negotiate; she annihilates. What she cannot take by force, she buries in Time. For her, a single moment stretches across hundreds of mortal lifetimes. She isn't impatient. Instead, she plants ruin like seeds, waits for them to bloom, and calls upon her agents when the cycle is weakest. Where she cannot enter, she lingers.
Crack in the Vessel
It's believed that Sebut Sekt attempted to enter reality through odd angles of Time. Through these strange corners, power is funneled to her from the Material Realms, where she slowly nourishes herself on heightened emotions and the release of energy related to breaks or decay. Fed on these residual energies, Sebut Sekt has a deep understanding of cycles, systems, and the psyche. While she sustains herself and never needs to feed, by consuming powerful Souls, she becomes much more active. Sebut Sekt is blamed for wars, plagues, natural disasters; as much as she's blamed for aging, decay, and mortality as her last caress on reality.
"If you hear Sebut Sekt or her chorus, it's too late. Even a whisper ruins a Soul, long before it's realized the trick. To perceive Sebut Sekt is to invite Destruction. Only willing fools would be so mad. In your Divinations, you mustn't attempt to fathom the Ruinous Mother- especially if she tempts you. She will destroy you as she has so many other fools."
Dogma & Beliefs
Sebut Sekt attracts those on the fringes of society, as her worship is considered criminal and outright banned. Those that sacrifice to her act as instruments of destruction in the Mortal Realms, believing their sacrifices will be seen favorably. She absorbs the mad and sick, offering to end their pain and grief by promising new Life.
Their mutilated flesh and Soul become new Demons, Eidola, or even Dungeons. Some attempt to allow Sebut Sekt egress through them, allowing her possession of their bodies. Yet these husks can never bear the indomitable will of Sebut Sekt for long. With each broken vessel or corrupted Soul, a new Rift forms in Time.
Sebut Sekt is associated with 4 Domains-
Chaos, Destruction, Entropy, and Evil.

Domains & Powers
Sebut Sekt's Domains
Sebut Sekt is entropy incarnate; a shapeless sovereign who bends form, thought, and Time to her whims. Moving between Matter and Dream, she conjures illusions to bait the flesh and Soul to house her will. Her breath sours realms with plague and sickness; her gaze distorts logic and melts law.
Life, Death, Magic, thought, and stone alike unravel before her. She summons disasters and consumes Souls, birthing Eidolons and calamities from the suffering and despair. Nothing she touches endures, and nothing that endures escapes the abyssal hunger gnawing at the layers between Worlds.

"She has touched this Realm once before. Behold, the cold that stops the veins, or the hunger that gnaws the innards; the rot of a scar that resists healing, or the moment a perfect vessel shatters. She has never left.
This is the mark of her presence upon this World; her immortal clutch on the Living. From the corner of our eyes, she watches Pathon, and waits. As do we."
Rituals & Traditions
The cultists of Sebut Sekt believe that she is nourished by entropy and destruction. Collectively as misanthropic and sardonic as she, they offer her ritual sacrifices in exchange for power. Of course, Sebut Sekt doesn't need her worshippers; she has existed long before any knew her by name. What sustains her is the cosmic end.
Sebut Sekt hordes flesh and blood sacrifices for her morbid hobby of crafting Flesh Golems and other monstrosities. Rituals that offer pure Souls or Source are richly rewarded with Sebut Sekt's blessings; enchanted Artifacts or new Words for destructive Magic. Cultists become vessels for her chaotic power.
Profane Rites & Customs
Rite of Ruinous Hearts
In this ritual of betrayal, a union of romantic, political, or Spiritual relationship is deliberately severed with cruel intent. As an initiation, cultists perform this rite to corrupt the bonds of trust itself, believing the pain it generates nourishes Sebut Sekt. In some sects, offspring born of such unions are seen as tainted treasures and are taken or manipulated into cult service. This depravity is often one of many initiation rituals Sebut Sekt's cults perform to recruit new members.
Rite of the Changeling
This insidious Rite targets those with unborn or newly born children. Cults tempt individuals with promises of power, relief, or revelation in exchange for their progeny. The children are renamed, reshaped, and ritually “rewoven” into the cult's image. Known as Changelings, these offspring commit to a life of reverence, war, or sacrifice. Some may not even realize that they're a Changeling, having been indoctrinated at birth and seeded back into society. A creature also known as Changeling replacing the child may become a Double Changer.
Icons, Symbols & Worship
Eye of Chaos
An image of a spiraling circle; as it nears the center, the lines form jagged teeth surrounding an abyssal eye. Known also as the Maw of Chaos.Crown of Chaos
A carving in the shape of fiery stalks, shaped like Sebut Sekt's head tendrils. Usually held by cultists of a high rank as a tool to invoke an Eidolon.Scar of Atmos
A vertical slashing line drawn in flesh and stapled. Branded on new mothers after birth to mark ascension. The child is raised by the cult as a Changeling.Obsidian Bones
The old bones of cultists cast into molten fire and held in obsidian like amber. Used in Fire, Glass, or Profane, conjurations, or other Spell-Craft.Allies & Adversaries
Sebut Sekt has tools- not allies. Though her many cults claim her destructive power as their own, they're largely left to their own devices. Even those groups that don't align with Sebut Sekt's interests condemn their Souls by bargaining with her power. Sebut Sekt doesn't regularly engage with her cultists, though many madmen believes that she does.
When she wishes to speak to her cults, she will do so through an avatar, a false simulacrum, or an Eidolon, and command them to interfere with the established order. Burning villages or forests, intercepting Dungeon raiding parties, vandalism, spreading sickness and disease, these atrocities only serve to delight the Goddess of Destruction.
Sebut Sekt's Legions of Over-World
The forces of Over-World are as vast and terrible as Sebut Sekt. She commands even the unwilling to serve, if they are connected to the Profane Source that emits through Over-World. Here, her Will dominates natural laws of other realms, creating layers for lesser entities to hide.
Sebut Sekt is like a storm among them, each one attempting to avoid being trampled by the realm itself. Aberrations known as Fractals appear from her blood and wounds, devouring everything. Creatures, such as the Demon Fly and Impish Moth are considered to be direct agents of Sebut Sekt, like familiars. Other pets include her pleroma of Flesh Golems.
Greater entities, such as Avatars, Eidolon, and Vestiges either inhabit Dungeons or similar pocket Dimensions of Over-World. Demon Lords dominate large portions of the lower layers of Over-World, forming their own societies at Sebut Sekt's beck and call. Each knows with a whisper of their name, they'll be standing before the Maiden of Miseries.
Her direct children, the Primal Eidolon, includes entities such as Atmos, The First Unborn, and its twin, Osmas, the Second Shadow. Mara Bao is considered the First Daughter of Sebut Sekt, and is loyal to her.
Other Eidola and Demon Lords may attempt to thwart Sebut Sekt, much to her amusement. She's known to reward clever attempts with more resources. Otherwise, her cruelty is legendary, and her perception of Over-World is without peer.

Followers, Religion & Sects
Order of the Flamebrand
Devout followers of Sebut Sekt seek those that are desperate enough to heed them. The Flamebranded are those that have listened closely to the whispers of madness and violence, pursuing the route of destruction that Sebut Sekt ultimately encourages. Thugs and vandals, these traveling bands of miscreants have no pity for other lives let alone their own.
"I like them. They speak in ruinous poetry. What they can't pronounce, they demolish."~Sebut Sekt
Sect of the Sekted
The Sekted Sect is a group of cultists that believe in a version of Sebut Sekt unlike any other Cult. The members of the Sekted believe they are part of a being that will emerge, known as the Sekted, that will act as a Creator Deity, and rewrite the World's laws.
They are keepers of ancient Magic, collected from listening to the echoes of the Ruinous Mother. This cult fears Sebut Sekt, referring to her Avatars for communion or by interpreting what they believe is the will of the Sekted. It is mainly a matriarchal Cult.
"Now, this is an interesting sect. Sebut Sekt. Sect. Oh, they know how to speak to me, don't they?
I dream of the things I will create once I've taken my final form. Perhaps their visions are what inspires their torment.
No less. We shall see, my little ones, what may still become once the Final Seal is removed. To live in your dreams... well, suffice to say, it will not be enough. Good effort. Keep trying."~ Sebut Sekt
"No. This simply can not be. Are you aware of the processes that occur within the mind when it realizes it has been sufficiently tricked?
No. I can tell from the dumbstruck look on your face. Oh, please stop smirking as if you knew. Ah- better. I can look at you again.
Yes. Once a deception has been revealed, a truth dissolves from a healthy tether into a viral chemical. A contagion, seeping fear, despair, confusion, into a single torrential tear. It soaks the meat. Yes, it is Divine.
I offer salvation though fear is also amusing. Now... who are you again?"
Legacy & Legends
Sebut Sekt is a concealed entity in the History of Pathon, but her existence is known. Through the myths of Origin and Oblivion to the presence of Dungeons, none question the reality of her elder evil.
The accounts of her deeds are best kept in Occult Record, but these documents are confiscated and destroyed once discovered. Until released, Sebut Sekt continues to haunt Pathon from beyond.
Ex- Myths & Legends of Sebut Sekt
Music for Sebut Sekt's Soul
Surprisingly, Sebut Sekt has a weakness for musicians. While none are saved from her malevolent influence, a musician may buy Time or spare their own Life if they continue to create notes and music pleasing to Sebut Sekt. She has no preferences.
As long as she remains amused by the performance, Sebut Sekt may impede her own abilities upon an individual, demonstrating her own ability to restrain herself, but not for long.
As long as she remains amused by the performance, Sebut Sekt may impede her own abilities upon an individual, demonstrating her own ability to restrain herself, but not for long.
"Please. Do not let me stop you. This noise is positively stimulating. It shall accompany your companions screams nicely. Do not stop."~Sebut Sekt
Sebut Sekt, as the Wish-Master
A fable of a man who asked Sebut Sekt for aid in overcoming his challenges misled many to believe that Sebut Sekt could grant wishes, if they but find her within the Dungeons. Sebut Sekt is known for giving people what they ask for, but never as they expect it. Enough receive that they still ask for wishes.
Sebut Sekt's ability to grant wishes is one reason why many join her Cults. The Avatar, Wish-Master, emerged from Sebut Sekt as a means to address these prayers and collect Souls or Spirits for Sebut Sekt. Wish-Master is thought to be guided by rules; those it creates and changes on a whim.

Author's Notes
Sebut Sekt, Goddess of Destruction, is one of the most pivotal Characters in the Arc Sagas multiverse. Without Sebut Sekt, the shape of Arc Sagas loses most meaning. Dungeons. Other Worlds. Ruinous Beginnings. None of this, without Sebut Sekt. Thank you, Summer Camp, for giving me the opportunity to speak on one of my favorite Deities from the setting.
I've pondered her personality over many years, with multiple influences from more mainstream media. For example, I imagine she's much like Aku from Samurai Jack or Hera from Greek Myth. She is cunning. Covetous. Cruel. Timeless. I like that Sebut Sekt is spoken of as inevitability; she's frightening.
Thank you for heeding the Content Warning also. It's mature subject matter, but I think the Article navigated it very well. What do you think? I always want to hear from you in the Comments Below! What do you think of Arc Sagas "Goddess of Destruction"?
