Petra

A failed apprentice of the great Calliope Petra spent their life in relative obscurity cast by the rather long shadow of the other apprentice Magda Lynne. Still a craftsmen of musical instruments Petra does turn enough profit in order to live and even provide for her apprentice Levi Greene. Her one major claim to fame though is the creation of the Black Bird - Violin an incredibly detailed and unique instrument crafted from pure black obsidian that even according to Magda himself should have been impossible. It is this one acheivement that has created a reivalry between the two that has lasted decades up to the death of Petra herself.

Appearance

To look at Ptera you wouldn't think craftsmen but that's what she is, standing at over 9 foot tall and built like a prize fighter, Petra is never without her tools. She lacks any hair at all and wears the expression of a grandmother about to bake you cookies. She always dresses simply and ready to make something.  

Personality

Humble to a fault Petra is a person who is always looking out for her apprentices and other workers never taking any credit for anything. It's frankly a mircale tha she was even credited with the Black Bird as several other of her instruments have probably been credited to apprentices. Petra is patient waiting and guiding for people to understand before moving on, she allows people to come to the answers themselves and from the outside perspective it can appear as if she does very little.  

Background

Petra comes from a branch of the Kavanaugh Family though due to her unusual size which they belived meant that she was not a true Kavanaugh and began a process of ostrisizing, her father and mother continued to love her as she was though but it mean that while she was of many much of the other sof benefits were denied her throughout her life. Despite this she was apprenticed to Caliope who saw the potential in the young girl.   During her apprentiship from most reports her and Magda were inseperable constantly improving each others designs always scaling to new heights there were even rumors the two were in love. However near the end of their apprentiship the Caliope Auction was created as a way to celebrate the accomplishments of the craftsmen of the city. When Petra suggested to Magda they work on something together he refused saying they needed to forge their own ways if they were ever going to succeed on their own, Petra dissagreed pleading with Magda in a quite public argument that culminated in Magda screaming that he was tired of Carrying Petra.   A few weeks later when the contest reached it's final only Petra and Magda remained and though Magda's entry was an amazing and truly ground breaking it paled in comparison to the Black Bird. Magda was enraged by this fact but it was Petra that looked the most hurt by it she had won even beating out Caliope but she had lost her partner.   From there she never entered the contest again while Magda continued to rack up victories and is due for his 50th victory soon unless something drastic happens. She took many apprentices over the years producing excellent craftsmen that would produce great wonders but none matching what Magda would produce.  

Relationships

There were rumors she took a lover after the incident with Magda but like many of these things rumors are just rumors and nothing ever confirmed.
