Shadows Over Virensha

“Shadows Over Virensha” is a mournful lament commissioned in the aftermath of the infamous @Virensha Massacre. Seeking to shape the memory of the tragedy, Baron Cognate Valheir  employed the Imperial bard Samus of Dengar to compose a piece that would immortalize the fall of the Duke Samuel Greeve  and his assembled nobility. The ballad, steeped in sorrow and courtly gravitas, mourns the silenced voices of Virensha while reinforcing the Empire’s narrative of inevitable loss and noble sacrifice. Performed with somber strings and ghostly harmonies, it has since become both propaganda and elegy — a dirge echoing through the halls of power.     [Intro, Soft strings, Ghostly female hums] Golden lights above the hall, Laughter rising, banners tall, Goblets gleamed and silver shone, None yet knew the night would groan.     [Verse 1] Velvet draped and candles bright, Voices danced beneath the night, Wine was poured and stories told, Hearts were warm, the air was gold.     [Chorus, Male voice with ghostly harmonies] But shadows crept where the chandeliers burned, Dreams to ashes, joy overturned, They perished not knowing their fate was near, Virensha weeps for the lost held dear.     [Verse 2] A toast was raised with steady hand, Unity bound across the land, Yet whispers turned to poisoned breath, The feast became a hymn of death.     [Chorus, Full lament] But shadows crept where the chandeliers burned, Dreams to ashes, joy overturned, They perished not knowing their fate was near, Virensha weeps for the lost held dear.     [Bridge, Strings rise, Female backing vocals echo] The Duke lay still, his crown undone, The hall was dark though flames had begun, Names now echoes, titles in stone, Their glory silenced, forever gone.     [Chorus, Slow and mournful] But shadows crept where the chandeliers burned, Dreams to ashes, joy overturned, They perished not knowing their fate was near, Virensha weeps for the lost held dear.     [Outro, Fading strings, Whispered female echoes] Virensha weeps… Virensha weeps… For all who perished here.
