Marshal Crowhel's Animals

The animals of Marshal Remus Crowhel , commander of the Cythrian frontier city of Tycho , are as iconic and respected as the marshal himself. Though Crowhel is known for his unyielding discipline and strategic brilliance, his deep bond with four loyal animal companions reveals a seldom-seen facet of the man, a quiet loyalty that runs not only through his ranks but through fur and feather as well.   At the center of his entourage is Radish, a towering warhorse with a coat of ash-grey and eyes sharp with battle-born instinct. Once bred in the imperial stables of Kanver Vale , Radish is no mere mount but a veteran of the southern campaigns, trained to charge through chaos and fire with the same cold focus as his rider. Despite the steed’s intimidating presence, the name “Radish” is often cited in whispered campfire stories as proof of the marshal’s occasional humor, a contrast that endears him to some and confuses others.   Circling high above Tycho’s walls, especially in times of tension, is Talon, a hawk with a piercing cry and wings that cast swift-moving shadows across the city’s watchtowers. Talon serves both as scout and symbol, his keen eyes extending Crowhel’s reach far into the Kargathian Wetlands. The bird has been seen delivering messages, marking scouts' progress, and once, during a skirmish, clawing the face of a would-be assassin. Locals claim Talon seems to respond to Crowhel's commands before they are spoken.   Completing the group are two war-trained mastiffs, Fierce and Loyal. As their names suggest, the dogs represent the twin virtues Crowhel demands of his soldiers: fearlessness in the face of danger, and unwavering allegiance. They accompany him during inspections, public speeches, and quiet evening patrols. While Fierce growls at strangers with a soldier’s distrust, Loyal is known to sit patiently beside wounded men in the infirmary, as if sensing Crowhel’s silent charge to guard all under his protection.   Together, these four creatures form an inseparable part of the marshal’s daily life. They are not mascots nor mere pets, they are comrades. Those closest to Crowhel know he speaks to them as he would to trusted officers, his gruff tone softening when no one else is near.   In a world of cold commands and battlefield pragmatism, Marshal Crowhel’s animals serve as a rare reminder that even the hardest steel bears a hidden warmth.
