Bloomheart Foundation
Ingrained in the artistic heart of Lilea, just a stone’s throw from the ivy-clad walls of Artemius College and the fragrant terraces of the Rose Garden Theatre, the Bloomheart Foundation stands as one of Lilicea’s most beloved and respected institutions. Dedicated to ensuring that every child in Lilicea, regardless of birth or station, has access to education, the Bloomheart Foundation is both a beacon of opportunity and a living expression of Lilicean virtue.
Mission and Purpose
Founded in the aftermath of Lilicea’s occupation by the Empire, when access to education became more uncertain for the lower classes, the Bloomheart Foundation emerged as a response to a growing need. It exists to provide free and accessible basic education to all children in Lilicea, funding the construction of rural and urban schools, teacher salaries, tuition fees, and learning materials. Where local funding or infrastructure is absent, the Bloomheart Foundation steps in.
Beyond its broad support of general education, the Foundation also offers merit-based scholarships for exceptionally gifted students to pursue higher education at Artemius College. These scholarships have opened the doors of the prestigious institution to many young talents who would otherwise have been excluded due to financial hardship.
Sources of Funding
The Bloomheart Foundation is notable for its deep and creative roots in Lilicea’s artistic culture, aligning with the nation's devotion to the gods Lilium and Artem. Its funding is sustained through a mix of:
- Art Sales: Works donated by former scholarship recipients, paintings, musical compositions, poetry collections, and even performance recordings, are sold in auctions, exhibitions, and festivals. Many of these former students are now acclaimed artists, and their contributions are seen as both a repayment and a gift to future generations.
- Donations: The nobility of Lilicea, whose families often include alumni of Artemius College, frequently donate generously. It is seen as both a public honor and a religious duty to support the Foundation, especially in homage to the goddess Lilium and god Artem.
- Investments: The Foundation maintains a small but carefully managed portfolio of investments in Lilicean agriculture and artisan guilds, ensuring long-term sustainability.
- The Rose Garden Theatre: The Foundation owns and operates the Rose Garden, Lilea’s most renowned public theatre. Lavishly decorated with rose motifs and echoing with poetry, song, and drama, the Rose Garden stages some of the finest performances in Aranath. All profits, after paying staff and performers, go directly to the Bloomheart Foundation.
