Bracer Guild
"We protect people. Nothing more, nothing less. Wherever there is trouble for civilians, wherever there's someone that needs help - we will be there. We are the gauntlet that holds up the peace in this nation - in every nation. That is what the being a bracer means to me."The Bracer Guild is an independent organization that acts to protect civilians and keep the stability in their regions by tackling leads that may be overlooked by more official authorities. They are an international organization with branches in almost every nation, as well as operatives operating in remote areas. The members of this Guild are known as 'bracers'. Bracers are adventurers with at least some degree of experience in dealing with dangerous situations, though specializations vary vastly within the network. Some specialize in gathering information that is then passed on to more battle-oriented bracers, while others handle day-to-day operation management and dealings with the local governments where the guild branches are located. Most bracers, however, are field agents that take on quests to help people in their area. Bracers are mobile, courageous, and always willing to land a hand to both civilians and their fellow bracers. The Guild is a neutral force that has operatives in practically every nation in Aradia. As a result, they are occasionally called upon to mediate between greater powers, including playing a hand in the end of the War of the Lions. Unfortunately, due to their neutrality, they are at times looked upon with suspicion, accused of acting against the interest of a particular nation. This has made official operations in some regions difficult, though some bracers still act as covert agents in those areas where the Bracer Guild is banned from having branch offices. Bracers carry metal pins shaped like the Guild logo as means of identification. These have names etched into the back and are made to order whenever a new bracer joins the Guild. The pin has a small gem embedded in it that signifies the rank of the bracer. Junior bracer pins are on a scale from green to blue, while senior bracers are purple to red. When a bracer earns a new rank, the local branch leader in charge of their promotion switches out the gem to a new one.
Bracer Code
Each bracer is encouraged and expected to act in accordance to their conscience in order to protect the peace and the civilians under their care. The Guild does, however, have a Bracer Code that comprises the loose set of rules that all bracers are expected to adhere to. Most notable among these is the policy of non-intervention with any nation's military activity. A bracer must recognize a nation's sovereignty, and may not interfere with nor arrest any person of national military or political standing. Furthermore, they are not to engage with military action between nations, whether to assist or disrupt. There is one exception, and that is in the event of unjust imperilment of citizens, in which case a bracer's sworn duty is, first and foremost, to the safety of the citizens.Guild Rank
Bracers have ranks that are determined by their achievements. There are two categories of bracers: junior bracers, which are young bracers still proving their capacity, and senior bracers, which have proven their ability and dedication and are allowed to lead dangerous missions and train junior bracers. Junior bracers start at 9th Class and can advance up to 1st Class, after which they are promoted to senior status. Senior bracers start at G Rank and advance to A Rank. It is possible to achieve S Rank, but due to the very high requirements for such acknowledgement, there have only been three S Rank bracers in the history of the Guild.Known Bracers
- Grace Ashclaw. Senior bracer, B Rank. Head of the Leeves Branch Office.
- Kali Thorne. Junior bracer, 4th Class.
- Grigori Estheim. Senior bracer. S Rank.
- Donald de Montbray. Senior bracer, A Rank. Head of the Einhel Branch Office.
History
The Bracer Guild was originally little more than a roaming band of five adventurers and mercenaries-for-hire that traveled the continent of Aradia, taking on quests for the betterment of civilian life. As their reputation grew and more and more people began to request their aid, they split up, going their separate ways while maintaining communications. This eventually led to each of them establishing a foothold in their region and training or recruiting other adventurers to the cause. The first official 'Bracer Guild Branch Office' was built in the city-state of Abraxas, part of the Calvard Collective. Since then, branches have been opened all across the world and although the founders are no longer living, plenty of young, dedicated bracers have taken on their mantle.
