Blithe

The Goddess of the Godless, The Redeemer, The Laughing Maiden (a.k.a. Blythe, Wynnflæd, Delicia, Charalampos)

Worshiped by many who find the complex rituals and customs that many of the other Gods insist upon daunting or confusing, Blithe values the free spirit and encourages her followers to follow their bliss. Blithe also believes in second chances and is always willing to allow a wayward follower or repentant villain to redeem themselves. She seeks those who are despairing, abandoned, lost, or repentant, offering them compassion, guidance, and hope. She does not restrict her followers to any particular method of worship or even open worship at all. Maintaining a pure heart and expressing themselves suffices for worship in Blithe's eyes. Blithe herself delights in arts, food, drink, sport, and other, more sensual, pleasures. She is a jovial being that is most often seen laughing and teaches her followers that anger and hatred beget only more anger and hatred, never happiness. She instructs her followers to give aid freely to others and to give them hope when all other hope is lost. She also instructs them never to stifle one’s creativity and that every creature’s soul and creativity is worthy of merit. Blithe is sometimes depicted as being Twain's wife or lover.   Blithe's followers are composed of creatures from every walk of life and nearly every race imaginable, less structured and more rustic cultures enjoy her free-spirited nature especially so.

In the Central Pantheon - Wynnflæd

In the Central Pantheon, Wynnflæd is the goddess of mercy, revelry, beauty, and fertility. In much the same way as the Imperial Pantheon, she is far less concerned with formalized rituals and worship and more concerned with her adherents living their lives in a compassionate manner. While most of the Central Pantheon's clergy are exclusively men, Wynnflæd's are exclusively women. Traditionally their role would be to offer pleasure to those of their community, often in a carnal fashion. They typically reach out to the lonely and most in need of compassion. Because of this, Wynnflæd priestesses are forbidden to marry. Attempting to force oneself on a priestess is considered extremely heretical, as it is equivalent to stealing and devaluing the gifts of Wynnflæd. Wynnflæd is also said to be able to make (or simply to always has) a magic wine known as Vergoldetes Blut, or "Gilded Blood". It is said that this wine is made from the life essence that becomes flesh and blood. Drinking it is said to ease one's pain, cure wounds, and provide a sense of vigor and happiness.

In the Western Pantheon - Blythe

In the Western Pantheon, Blythe fills a similar role, being associated with beauty, relief, revelry, and fertility. Her Western aspect reserves such gifts only for her own people, however. She is most typically prayed to before a dangerous task, especially a battle, with the promise of comfort and celebration for those who returned, gifts provided by her priestesses. Like the Central Pantheon, Blythe's Western clergy are exclusively women.

In the Southern Pantheon - Delicia

Delicia is a goddess of joy, compassion, mercy, the arts, fertility, and, above all, hope. Unlike the Central and Western Pantheon, Delicia's clergy are not exclusively women, nor does she deal specifically with carnal pleasures. While she is often prayed to for couples who seek children, she is more closely related to the outcome than the act itself. In addition to childbirth, she seeks to spread love and compassion, to encourage enjoyment in both creating and appreciating art of all mediums, and to offer mercy to those who are vulnerable. All these things are facets of her primary focus: hope. Delicia encourages her followers to find the beauty in life and find things which make life worth living, both for themselves and future generations. Like her Imperial counterpart, she values personal expression in all things, including worship.

In the Eastern Pantheon - Charalampos

Charalampos is the god of life, joy, and passion. He is the celebration of all the joy, love, and passion of a life lived to its fullest. He is the embodiment of a living soul. While not the focus of Charalampos's domain, things such as fertility, births, and mercy are secondary aspects of his primary focus. Charalampos's followers are taught to follow their passions, live life to the fullest, and always choose life and mercy over death when possible. Charalampos is one half of the dual god Thymos, deity of the soul, spirits, and emotions.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

In the Imperial Pantheon

Blithe appears as a young woman with long legs and hair from which countless flowers bloom. She is sometimes depicted as having flowing garments or sashes, but often her only "clothing" is that of her own hair which envelops her body. She is always smiling and often dancing. Her voice sounds like a fine harp.

In the Central Pantheon

Wynnflæd is is depicted as a voluptuous woman, with either the head of a rabbit or a regular human head with flowing golden hair. If depicted as clothed at all, is clothed in robes of leaves and vines. Flowers and plants bloom about her as she walks. As befitting her status as a goddess of revelry, she is often depicted with a wineskin which contains the Vergoldetes Blut.

In the Western Pantheon

Blithe is a beautiful, alluring, orc. She is seldom depicted completely naked, typically wearing some form of loincloth or skirt of animal skins or hides. She wears garlands and circlets of leaves and plants, always in bloom. She is often also depicted drinking or carrying drink, but it lacks its magical associations of Wynnflæd.

In the Southern Pantheon

Delicia is far less sexualized than many of her other depictions. While she is still beautiful, she is typically depicted as slimmer and less well-endowed. Her hair is silver and she wears garments of leaves, vines, and twigs which bloom flowers. She is often seen with an instrument, a lyre, harp, or lute being common choices.

In the Eastern Pantheon

Charalampos is slight of frame and golden of skin. He is clean-shaven and handsome. He wears a laurel wreath among his silver hair and is always seen laughing. It is said that none can hear his laugh and resist the urge to join. His eyes are deep, alluring, and both they and his horns are a verdant green.  He wears a sash wrapped around his waist, though to what degree this covers any of his intimate areas varies depending on the artist.
