Adhelm
Elf-Father, Protector (a.k.a. Medolaith, Théophane)
Adhelm is the god of Justice, Law, Protection, Heroes, and Legends. He is a avid pursuer of evildoers and considered one of the most virtuous of the deities. Too virtuous in some cases. Many find his high-minded and righteous ideals far too difficult to live up to, if not outright impractical for the real world. He is one of the most restrictive of the deities and demands strict adherence to a plethora of rules governing behavior, living, and action. These rules often vary from sect to sect, but mandate steep punishments for even the most minor infractions, ostensibly as a way to prevent the seed of evil from taking root in one's life. A ruthless persecution of those who do not repent and follow the path of righteousness is chief among Adhelm's commandments, but often things like lying, drinking, cheating, lusting after someone you are not married to, indulging in excess of any kind, failing to protect the weak or innocent, exhibiting any show of wealth (sometimes even having any wealth beyond the bare necessities), impure thoughts of any kind, and many others are met with zero tolerance.
There are those who find this excessive level of order and virtuousness appealing, and most everyone will call for Adhelm's help when evil threatens them directly, but for the average person, the rules and restrictions are too difficult to follow. It is often said that the reason Adhelm is a god of heroes is because only such larger-than-life figures are capable of living up to his standards.
In the Central Pantheon
Adhelm is the god of Justice, Law, and Protection. However, his Central Pantheon incarnation is more an enforcement of existing mortal laws. Adhelm punishes those who break the law or who do wrong to other people, but he is less of a judge and more of an executioner. While his priests will often seek his guidance when determining the guilt of potential criminals, Adhelm prefers to leave the judgement of such matters to morals. In the event where he is called upon specifically to render judgement, he always does so by the laws of the land, not by his own laws. He is a protector of the weak and innocent and a fierce adherent to the notion that the guilty must be punished. In the Western Pantheon - Medolaith
Medolaith is the ancestor-god of heroes, glory, and legends. It is he who renders the final verdict of whether or not a soul has performed a great enough deed to ascend. In mortal affairs, he serves as a judge and is often called upon in trials and similar situations where one's innocence or guilt must be determined. In the Southern Pantheon - Théophane
Théophane is one of the three primary deities of the Southern Pantheon, along with Ferrégine and Celestine, and is especially prominent among Elven civilizations. He seeks out those who would bring harm to his people and delivers swift retribution to them. He is not exclusive to Elves, however, and accepts followers from other races as well, which many more conservative Elves posit to be the reason behind his downfall within their society. Though he is seen primarily as the protector of Elves he offers his protection to others who oppose evil and chaos. His clerics are staunch upholders of the law and seek out those who transgress it, no matter how small the infraction, and bring them to justice. This often takes the form of turning them in to the local authorities, but some of his clergy prefer to take matters into their own hands. Théophane and his followers seek to bring law and order to all corners of the world. Théophane does not enjoy as many followers in the Elven homeland of Royaume Théophane as he once did (despite being the region's namesake), but other Elven communities still worship him as their patron deity. He is often worshiped by monks, paladins, and lawful fighters or clerics. His most favored champions and followers are almost always Elves, but other lawful-minded people may worship him.In the Eastern Pantheon
Much of Adhelm's domain is overseen by Ambrus and, to a lesser extent, Vassiliki in the Eastern Pantheon. As such, Adhelm has no Eastern counterpart. In the Northern Pantheon
