Mediaus, a celebrated half-elven general of the Alcad Empire, could not bear to witness the nation he had served faithfully crumble under the reckless rule of Emperor Alistain Alcad IV. The young and inexperienced Alistain, who indulged his absolute authority, squandered the empire's wealth on extravagant rebuilding efforts and silenced any counsel that opposed him, even executing war heroes, fabled generals, and council members who had once secured the empire's dominance.   Many of these heroes had been close friends of Mediaus Kapral, and their unjust demise, along with the burdens of excessive taxation, drove Mediaus to stage a relatively bloodless coup.
