Langwidere System
Written by vovan1
The Langdwidere system, developed by Nomi Nuyran (with some suggesting involvement of Shemi, a Volcanic Mirrolin cleric, for the matters more spiritual), was, at first, designed to test out some edge cases with Separatia by using heads with different capabilities.
However, when the tests suggested it working as expected and allowing to swap heads and even bodies while retaining continuity of mind and soul, Nomi, involved with Project Potentia, saw an opportunity and took it, managing to propose it for Project Potentia as a more robust, lasting alternative to original plans with suppressant injectors.
Even though this proposal was taken, the system, stripped of anything psionics-related, was also released for usage by wider public by Nomi - both for financial cuts from each unit sold and, as some suspect, purely for the "circuses" part in "breads and circuses".
Since then, it's managed to penetrate society quite well. Nobilis, that use it, tend to have entire collections of custom-tailored heads and bodies - Nomi being no exception to it. Citizens, usually, still can afford a few, treating them not too dissimilar to jewelry, and even non-insignificant amount of plebeians have a spare head.
It also helps that events, patroned by Nomi, tend to have "giveaways", where one, regardless of class, can get a Separatia implant and a new Langwidere-compatible head (or even body) at a reduced price in return for doing certain things - all too often shaped towards providing greater support to Nomi Nuyran's senatorial position, albeit not always.
Far as it comes for everyday use, it varies with users. Some were even known to integrate it into their workflows.
And there are some hushed rumors, that Mamercus Quarto himself makes use of it, given some differences in his looks day to day. If so, however, he doesn't officially claim it... and no one wants to risk their position or life by talking about those rumours too openly, lest custodians come for them.

Utility
Under normal conditions, the system is simply used to allow for seamless switching between different heads and, sometimes, bodies. Originally developed independently, Nomi found a way to integrate it into Project Potentia to allow easier control over psions, as heads they would be permitted to go outside of missions would have implanted dampening measures, impossible to remove without total cranial reconstrustion, instead of suppressant injection implant and more leashed existence. However, in rare cases, it allowed certain psions to get another power, outside of one they were born with, and there's an ongoing investigation into it.
Manufacturing
The manufacturing process for Langwidere system is highly proprietary to Nomin Nyuran's private enterprise, with the only one allowed to get a production tech transfer being Shemi, the Mirrolin priest.
Social Impact
Depends on social class. Plebeians, that have it, rarely have more than one spare head, excluding donations, and typically use it only in special circumstances (what counts as one varies with users). Nobilis, that possess the system, tend to have more, up to creating entire collections and using different heads for different occassions. Non-nobilis citizens tend to be somewhere in-between.
Access & Availability
Separatia System: baseline, no frills model costs ~500 credits
Basic model is available to anyone with Separatia system and some money. Potentia models are restricted to Project Potentia corps only and customized to the point no one from the outside can use them.

Complexity
The Langwidere system requires one wishing to use it to be already equipped with Separatia implants. Otherwise, system is pretty easy to use.
Discovery
The Langwidere system, that allows for switching heads and bodies while retaining continuity of soul and mind, was designed by Nomi Nuyran and, as some whisper, Shemi, during the early stages of work for Separatia, which enabled its later integration with Project Potentia.
