Farothian Basilisk

Widely regarded as an oddball species of reptilians native to the planet Faroth. Quadrupedal, and roughly the size of a tiger, these menacing creatures have large stores of fat all across their bodies, and a wreath of downy fur around their neck that help them survive the generally frigid environment of Faroth. The meat of these creatures is apparently highly toxic, but purportedly immensely flavorful, according to those that have sampled carefully prepared dishes of it.
In the early days of Farothian cagher civilization, these beasts proved to be the bane of their fledgling camps, making off with newborns left unattended, and seriously maiming guardsmen and hunters alike, earning them the local title of "Whiethweworr", or, roughly, "Night's Bane".

Basic Information

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Farothian basilisk, being obligate carnivores, bears more similarities to the panthera species, according to the archives, in that they prefer ambush, and surprise leaps to subdue their prey over chasing them down.  Given their size, and bite power, it's no surprise how effective this method is.  They prefer relatively small prey, though have little qualms about snapping down larger prey, if it becomes feasible.
