A small group of humans and halflings hid out on the island from the Atlantean invaders. They were left alone in return for creating the resort city and being ruled by an Atlan family (the Roarkes) that relocated here.
The resort took years to develop, workers were brought in to create the resort city. Many dwarves, atlans, and other workers helped out to build it.
Architecture
The architecture is a combination of Atlantean, Earth Dwarf , and islander. The islander influence is evident in the natural materials such as wood and stone, and the incorporation of open-air spaces and courtyards. The Atlantean influence is seen in curved lines, geometric patterns, canals, fountains, etc. The Dwarven influence is shown in the use of sturdy materials such as stone and brick, as well as underground spaces and tunnels.
The city is both beautiful and functional, with a strong sense of community and connection to the natural world. The architecture is a reflection of diverse cultures that have come together to create this unique and vibrant place.
Geography
The island is the remnants of an extinct volcanic caldera, the last eruption destroyed the cone except to the north where part of the caldera remained as a small mountain range. After the last eruption, it took hundreds of years for the ecosystem to develop and flourish.
There are now mountains, jungles, forests, beaches, lagoons, rivers, lakes, swamps, and plains; all on one medium-sized island. There are no large predators, but various small ones.
Climate
The climate is mostly tropical, but the northern portions have temperate forests and mountains that hold snow.
