Net Launcher
This item comes in many sizes, from a small hand device to a large salvage launcher. They are used to capture small fish, birds, or floating inanimate items. The smaller and medium sizes are cheap and readily available, while the larger ones can only be afforded by companies or the rich.
Pistol (small): handheld; the net is launched by a small pressurized gas cylinder. It is mostly used to catch small animals, items, or even a hold to get closer to larger objects or to arrest a fall.
Rifle (medium): is a larger version of the pistol, and is used for larger targets. It is often powered by an electric charge or magitech crystal. Sometimes has a scope for better targeting. Has a range of 1000 ft.
Cannon (large): has to be mounted on a carriage (wheeled frame with wheels), a vehicle, or a building. It is very heavy and needs a powered winch to reel in the catch. Mostly used for capturing smaller islands (or parts of them), and salvaging ships, aerial creatures, or similar objects.
They are simple or complicated devices. Powered by a gas cylinder and a muscle-powered reel, to bring the catch in, electricity or magitech.
Some are homemade, jury-rigged, mass-produced, or bespoke devices. Their use depends on the person who owns it, but hunting and salvaging are the most common uses of them.
The inventor of the pistol was said to have been a part-time inventor/explorer named Corbin Sky-Gimble. Most of his projects are works in progress while he was exploring the outlands (unexplored areas).
