Aethene Crystals
These crystals are a unique material that generates a persistent anti-magic field. These crystal clusters destabilize or dampen magical energies within their area of effect.
Manifestation
Frequency Dampening: the principle is that Aethene naturally generates a powerful, persistent, and localized Frequency Dampening Field due to its crystaline structure, which operates like a complex harmonic resonator tuned to negate magical wavelengths.
- Effect: this field is treated as a permanent, non-magical Anti-Magic Field, but its origin is a purely natural, extraordinary property of the rock itself.
Localization
Aethene Suppression Zone (localized field)
This applies to areas with concentrated Aethene pockets (like the tunnels within Kelah Weyr or around other large crystal veins).
- Area of Effect: functions identically to the Anti-Magic Field spell.
- Effect (Spell Nullification): no spell can be cast, activated, or manifested within the Zone. All ongoing magical effects that enter the Zone are suppressed for the duration that they remain.
- Magical Items: those brought inside into the zone cease to function, and their magical bonuses are nullified while inside. They still function as a Masterwork Sword.
- Supernatural Abilities: A creature's supernatural abilities are also suppressed.
- Area of Effect: A wide area of 4 miles from the Kelah Caldera; 2 miles from the other islands.
- This ability doesn't affect psionics or divine magic.
