Aeon

Written by Pookas Kreations

This is the home planet of the Aeonian people. Cosmara is the name of the planetary system, Metis Nebula is the name of the galaxy. There is one comet (Oriona) that frequents the system--every 80 years. This is a white dwarf, with a distant brown dwarf binary pair nearby. Technically, it is a trinary system, but the other two secondary stars are too weak to capture any planets from the primary sun. They do add some heat and radiation.
  • The sun is a white star like Sol. There are 10 planets in this system.
  • the 2nd planet used to be habitable, but the civilization died long ago.
  • 3rd planet is barren because a comet/asteroid caused an extinction-level event that killed all sentient life, and stripped the atmosphere.
  • Aeon is the 4th planet. It has a nitrogen, methane, helium, and oxygen atmosphere (breathable). It has a small ring system and a rocky crust. There are four seasons, they occur every 5 months. Aeon is different from most planets, it has a retrograde orbit and counter-clockwise rotation. Half of the planets in the system perform this way, only the weaker ones at the edge of the solar system rotate clockwise. Gravity is 1.5, has a hot and dry atmosphere, but is still in the temperate zone.
  • The 3rd and 4th planets are in the habitable zones, plus all of their moons. Two moons from the 3rd are habitable, and 5 from the 4th have atmosphere.
  • The 5th planet glows like a full moon most nights because its orbit is on a higher plane so the sun's rays reflect off of it more.
  • Three of the middle planets have ring systems, and one of the gas giants with rings has a habitable moon.
  • an asteroid system is in the outer system. A good pilot has no problem flying through the system.
Aeonians have traveled to most of the companion planets to explore and set up colonies and mines. They have no interest in leaving their system yet.   Aeon is slightly, 20% smaller than Earth. They stopped global warming on their planet before it had gone too far. They no longer use internal combustion or anything that pollutes the atmosphere. They only use renewable resources such as --solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric resources.   Right after sunset is the largest tide, and at sunrise is the smallest. A spring tide happens every time there are two to three full moons at the same time, a conjunction doubles the effect of a spring tide; often also causing typhoons and earthquakes.   Every 400 years there is a conjunction between the sun, planets, and the largest moon of each--this causes, earthquakes, an eclipse, tsunami, etc.   Moons   This planet has eight moons, although a few are barely large enough to be considered one, four are tidally locked, and all rotate/orbit as Aeon does. Three of the moons are barren, one is habitable, and one is icy. Tides on Aeon are chaotic because there are so many moons. Luckily the two larger moons are too far out to have much effect.   Aeon has 8 moons--Galma, Talius, Hatari, Solnova, Exili, Thimion, and two small rocks (only a few miles across)--the two smaller ones Exili and Thimion are tidally locked, and the 3rd moon and the planet are tidally locked with each other. None of the moons are in retrograde orbit. the 2 smaller moons are barren, the 3rd moon is icy.   These moons have little effect on the tides, and some water on Aeon is above the surface. Only the largest of the moons has any effect on the tides. Conjunctions rarely happen with these moons.   Galma is the only habitable moon of Aeon. It has a rocky core and has almost perfect living conditions. It was not too hot or cold, only 1 G, and there were no deadly storms, etc. Many believe it was terraformed in the past.   Penumbral eclipse--.5, as night w/dark moon, twice a year; total--total no stars, 1 hr, 4 times a year; partial--25 min, as dusk,6 times a year.   Continents   There are 6 continents on Aeon, 3 large, and 3 small, with various islands sized islands scattered around the ocean. None figure prominently in this story.   The large continents are above the equator, while the small ones are below it as well as the smaller ones. They are mostly spread horizontally along the equator.   Most large predators are either in the air or in the water. The land predators aren't large but roam in packs. Carnivorous plants are scattered throughout lands near the equator as well.   Aclush, is the concentration currently. The Aeonians evolved here, there is little aboveground water here, which explains the lack of predators. Because of the large predators in the air and sea, it is difficult to travel to other continents, but with the advent of shielded vehicles, it is easier as they advance over time.    Aclush is famous for its silk cloth, long-lasting and nutritious grain, delicious fruits, and hardwoods. The only way people from here are feared is through their business acumen. It is in the northern hemisphere. The north coast is in the subarctic zone, but most are in the temperate and tropical zones.   The south half of Aclush is mostly plains, while the north is steppes, hills, and mountains. The plains have many large herbivores of all types. There are large swathes of agricultural farms, with grains and other crops of all types.
