Lichen Hushwood
Striker (Gatherer)
Lichen Hushwood was a striker aboard the Duchess of Sicilia. His main job was to gather food in the off chance the crew found themselves stopping on an uninhabited island. As a firbolg, he had a great understanding of plants and was able to easily identify what was edible and what was not. He is the very definition of a gentle giant, consuming a primarily plant-based diet and taking care of the animals he encounters. He made fast friends with the rats aboard the ship, and would often sneak them portions of his dinner. Each rat has a name and personality, and though he loves all of them, his favorite had always been a little brown rat whose dark hair reminded him of his friend Oleander, so much so that he named it Oleander, Jr. (Ollie, Jr. for short). The rat had a bad leg and struggled to move fast enough to hide from the rest of the crew, so Lichen took to keeping him in his vest pocket for safety. He is friendly, very patient, and obedient. In spite of his size though, he is easily intimidated, and often found himself cowering before Captain Tobe Namedlater and the other higher-ups aboard the ship, as well as the foul-tempered Flint Stonehammer. He had a very close relationship with Oleander and the two even fled together during the mutiny, although have since gone their separate ways. Now Lichen just has the memories and Ollie, Jr. to remember his friends by.
