Alton Corrinson

Alton Corrinson is a Halfling born on the island of Tolkyn in the Halfling settlement of Bitholm. He came from a big family consisting of himself, his siblings, his parents, and his parents' families, and so it seemed someone was always cooking. Alton took an interest in cooking at a very young age - the way it brought everyone together, how it could bring out the best or worst in people, and the effects a good, filling, delicious meal could have - and was desperate to learn how to do it himself. The first tool he used was a wooden spoon, which he would use to mix batters and soups. As he got older, he was introduced to the pastry blender, and eventually, knives. He was still a child when he joined the rank of a primary cook in his household, but it was where he wanted to be, and so the weight of the responsibility was more a badge of honor than it was a burden. As he got older, he started having dreams of opening a restaurant where people from all over Tolkyn - maybe even the entire world! - would come together to eat his delicious food and create memories, like the ones he had in his big multi-generational home.   When Alton finally grew into a man, he moved away to the capital of Tolkyn, the Paravel Citadel on the western coast. He wanted to start a restaurant in the hub of his home island, and started working at the Baggins Bed and Breakfast, where he was permitted to sleep in the staff quarters until he could get his feet on the ground. He quickly rose the ranks, impressing the owners and eventually becoming head chef. Just when it seemed like perhaps he could rise the ranks further and become a partial owner, however, the bed and breakfast was visited by a sailor, Captain Tobe Namedlater of the Duchess of Sicilia. The captain was very impressed by the food and practically begged Alton to join his crew. Although apprehensive at first, the thought of sharing his food with sailors who would normally never have the opportunity to have a delicious meal encouraged him to give sailing a shot. Alton later realized, however, that it wasn't begging, it using manipulation, and that was never the one with power after all.   Alton sailed on the Duchess for one three tours, meeting a wide variety of people along the way. He always yearned to return to Tolkyn, but the captain always "begged" him to come back for just one more tour. Eventually he met the sailors Debauchery and Lokee. He found their bravery - or perhaps stupidity - inspiring, and would sometimes sneak Debauchery extra helpings of dinner on days they fought with the captain.   One night, a mutiny broke out aboard the ship. Alton did his best to try and talk sense into his crew mates, but being meek and overwhelmed, he couldn't help much. He was forced to flee, catching a ride with Pan to Gamblers' Den, where he works as a cook at The Shipwreck.
