Brogan Stilltide

A quiet storm amidst roaring seas, Brogan Stilltide hails from the rugged village of Sverd in the Blood Isles. Born into a lineage of raiders and fishermen, Brogan chose a different path—one of harmony with nature, not dominion over it. As a druid, he served as a ship guard and spiritual guide, hired by wary merchants to protect their vessels from pirates—often his own kin.   For a time, Brogan traveled with the adventuring company known first as the Shipwreckers, and later as the Balefire Venture, aiding in their struggle against the Cult of Az’Ur. He rose to prominence after the group defeated a False Hydra and saved the town of Hill Crest, cementing his reputation as a hero of the realm.   Yet Brogan's thoughts returned often to Sverd, and worry began to gnaw at him. Parting ways with the Venture, he sought passage home—and by fortune, encountered the crew of the Sea Bitch, captained by his old friend Jacqueline. With their help, Brogan returned to find Sverd under siege. Raiders loyal to Jarl Ubbe had attacked, capturing many warriors—including Jarl Bjorn and Brogan’s father, Rathan.   Brogan led the Sea Bitch’s crew in a daring raid to free the captives, rescuing both Bjorn and the imprisoned Bronze Dragon, Indralmorh. Though Rathan had already escaped, Brogan found him too late—the old warrior had been hunted down by a vampire known only as The Hunter, a servant of Ubbe.   Rathan died in Brogan’s arms.   In that moment, Brogan cast aside his druidic vows. He took up his father’s axe and embraced a new path: not one of balance, but of reckoning. He pledged himself to Jarl Bjorn and helped lead a campaign to unite the fractured Blood Isles.   But fate had more trials in store. During the campaign, Brogan came into possession of a terrible artifact: the Hollow Heart—a cursed object of ancient origin that twisted those around it into monstrous beings of wood and stone. Realizing the object’s corrupting influence, Brogan returned to the Balefire Venture, seeking answers.   Together, they fought across the continent—against thieves’ guilds, vampire cabals, treacherous dwarven lords, demons, and Illithids—all while uncovering the truth of the Hollow Heart. It was a relic of Fraz-Urb'Luu, the Demon Emperor, designed to reshape mortal bodies into vessels for his return.   When the party reached Nephirion, Brogan chose to remain behind, allying himself with the Monster Hunters of the Ebonclaw Den, defending the city against Illithid infiltration while the rest of the Venture pursued Cassian Evenhell.   Brogan has sworn to stand guard in Nephirion until the hunt for Cassian is done—after which, he intends to return to Sverd. There, with axe in hand and purpose renewed, he will finish what he began with Bjorn and help shape the future of the Blood Isles.
