Scellada Kindleflame
Peaceday 5th of Primus, 6017, in the Era Secundus
Scellada Kindleflame (born 3rd of Tyr, 5951 Secundus) is the Court Wizard of King Zeggor Pyrehide of Irelia.
Early Life
Scellada was born into the Kindleflame family, a upper class family in Plaina. Daughter to the influential mage Richter Kindleflame, Scellada lived a sheltered childhood, protected by warding spells and the mighty bookshelves of her home.
Naturally, she was quick to learn reading, with considerable pushes from her parents to do so. Along with this skill, she was also schooled by her parents at home, being able to pick up a lot of general knowledge in her lessons.
Richter would also make sure to teach her the basics of magic, which allowed her to become a apprentice wizard to her father at just 14. Although he would have taken her from there all the way to Archmage, he decided that it was time for her to go out and "see the world", sending her off to the recently erected Royal Mage's College in Hossar at 16.
Travelling there by foot, Scellada would finally learn what the world was like, from beyond the walls of her city.
On the road to Hossar, she got into a small adventure with a group of bandits, who kidnapped her in her sleep and wished to sell her off to some slavers. Unfortunately for them, Scellada was learned in a few personal defense spells, such as Burning Hands.
After this encounter, she found that she had enjoyed her usage of combat magic, which would go on to determine her focus for her next step in life.
Time at the Royal Mage's College
After her journey to Hossar, Scellada joined the ranks of intellectuals and mages in the halls and corridors of the Royal Mage's College, Irelia's main source of magic users.
Picking up her studies in 5967, she studied mainly in the areas of Evocation, aspiring to become a War Wizard one day. She craved to feel the power and heat of the day
During her studies, she would meet Asrand the Wise, King of Irelia, who was inspecting the college for an new court mage. He took an interest in her, ordering her to his court in 5970.
Activity under King Asrand
Moving into the court of Irelia's king was a big shift in Scellada's focus. After all, it was not befitting of a Court Wizard to engage in combat, and with most of her expertise now lying there, she had to rethink her entire career.
Luckily, Asrand the Wise was very much willing to help her along however he could. He too was interested in the intellectual, having been the one to construct the Royal Mage's College two decades prior. Over time, and through a lot of conversation, the pair eventually started having a romantic affair.
Their relationship took an end when Asrand died to a lung infection, which he got after having a passionate night with Scellada on a balcony of the Royal Palace.
Besides that, Scellada also learned the skills to establish herself in the court.
Activity under King Jorland II.
With the ascension of King Jorland the Second, Scellada locked in on her duties to the throne, maintaining communications with distant kingdoms and securing better relations with Testrales.
She also got the opportunity to finally make use of her original talents in the Riversworn Uprising, riding out with Ernesto Seatguard to take down Theodor Riversworn.
Fortunately for the Uprising, she was not able to do much before being hit in the eye by a sling. This hit came in with such force that her left eye was permanently destroyed, causing her to adopt the fashion of an eye patch.
She also personally advised King Jorland to not consider abdication as an option, which clearly had little effect on him.
Thus, she bent the knee to Zeggor Pyrehide, becoming his court mage.
Activity under King Zeggor Pyrehide
Under King Zeggor, Scellada would take an advisory role, giving occasional info on history, magic and other general tidbits. This leaves her free to pursue her own pursuit, such as taking on an apprentice in 6002.
She immediately found one, Scrella Kellershandra, who had worked herself half to death to get a place at the Royal Mage's College. Scellada immediately took Scrella under her care, being sure to exercise harsh teaching methods. She mainly hoped that she could one day become a worthy replacement to her, though this plan changed after Baron Ionthel Nagant of Kalderia requested the young Scrella as his Court Wizard.
Now without an apprentice, Scellada focused once more on her own interests.
She is currently busy creating and testing a new spell, known under the working title Scellada's Searing Meteor.
Velkoth's Notes:
- Has been loyal to the throne for many years, having seen three kings sit upon it
- Is skilled in Evocation magic
- Could perhaps be swayed to cooperation by appealing to common sensiblity, such as not having a puppet on the throne of Irelia
