Gate
An opening between two separate places that connects them together. This is for physical matter to pass through, resulting in instant travel. Gates can also be made for other planes of existence, and other times. Some single gates have controls or modes that allow for intersections with multiple places. There is a lot of variation, because some gates always are turned on, or activated by a key or spoken formula, and/or protected by a guardian, and others are not.
Plane of Existence
This is another reality, a different world, like Heaven, Hell, Purgatory or Faerie. Different physics and natural laws may apply there.
Pocket Plane
This also is a separate world or reality, but one with limited space, and attached to our world. For example, a bag of holding is a pocket plane attached to a bag. There is a limited volume within, and it probably has no air supply. This could include a secret closet where none-could exist.
Portal
This is an opening by which spirits and energies came and go into our reality. Portals are usually invisible, but sometimes marked with sigils, glyphs or runes. They usually are placed on a wall, but they can be freestanding, on the floor, or on the ceiling. These are useful for the passage of spiritual matter and energy, not physical things. If detected, portals can be sealed back up. Mirrors are often used as portals too, which is handy because they are easily transportable.
Spatial Decompression
This is a large space contained within-a-smaller-space. Four-dimensional space/time has been unfolded, like the way a tesseract can be, in theory, creating a much larger area inside a space that is too small to contain it.
Sub-Plane
Some planes are divided into multiple, connected realities, such as the nine levels of Hell, or the seven levels of Heaven. They are interrelated and part of the whole, but compartmentalized.
Vibration
Planes with higher vibrations are lighter, closer to pure thought, and more heavenly. Such places are considered closer to goodness and made of more subtle material. Planes with lower vibration are more dense, heavier, and more “sludgy.” Lower vibration planes are considered cruder and made of coarser material.
