Kui-kor Magic

Kui-kor Stones

These proto-magic items out of deep time often have powers that seem useless, but only because their magic has decayed or their intended uses have been antiquated. They appear as hand-sized stones although they are often tools (chipping stones, scrapers, or hammer heads) or weapons (arrow heads, spear heads, or axe heads, etc.) or even larger (menhir stones, stone altars). Various stones, like blue-stone, flint, or obsidian, are used to make them. Modern magic defenses are useless versus Kui-kor stone's powers. No one living entirely is sure how to activate Kui-kor stones. Perhaps it is by touch, on a trigger intent, or even random. If activated, each stone usually comes with 1-3 powers, but they are undependable. Actual powers include:
  • All cutlery/edged weapons the character wears become sharp
  • Animate stones within sight distance making them "dance"
  • Dowsing
  • Instill unusual quirks, perhaps even insanity
  • Lunar sensitivity to the moons' cycles and locations
  • Passion to find and map out all ley lines
  • Prophetic visions
  • Sudden healing of an old wound or disability
  • The ability to detect dimensional warping and bleed over
  • Visions of ghostly Kui-kor shamans that follow you
  •
If the character possesses Kui-kor genetics in their deep ancestry, which is true for about 5% of living Aorlisians, they may receive one or more of the following powers:

  • Animation—For example, people could herd animated rocks to a building site and then coach them into place.
  • Animistic communication—All things have voices, and they may talk to you. Things include rocks, trees, weapons, beds, clouds, or mountains. Items must be willing to speak for this work, but most volunteer happily, and some won’t shut up
  • Cyclic Awareness—You gain an innate sense of cyclic and temporal awareness, knowing the passage of deep time, and feeling the birth, passage, and death of ages. This includes cycles within greater cycles
  • Geomantic awareness—You become aware of ley lines and can detect and see them clearly
  • Intra-Circle Teleportation—You may teleport from one stone circle to another at will. Also, maze to maze, and menhir to minhir
  • Lunar awareness—Kui-kor sense where the moon is at all times, even when hidden behind Aarthus. You also know the moon’s stage and its effect on the world around
  • Operate Stone Circles—Stone circles and menhirs operate in an undependable, indecipherable, or even nonsensical way for humans. Now you can operate them dependably
  • Symbolic vision—You now view the world around you as archetypes and symbols, seeing not the physical thing but its symbolic manifestation. This ability only is as useful as the character's ability to decipher what he witnesses
