Efthymia
Efthymia is one of the Elven Automaths, responsible with the others for bringing life and consciousness to the Elves on the First Day. Standing on a prow-shaped balcony of the Gossamer Palace, Efthymia kept at bay a ravaging storm, believed by many to be a manifestation of the rage and power of Yorth. Diving from the balcony into the Tychi Sea, she mastered the beating waves, pounding rain, and roaring thunder, keeping it from the heads of the newly Awakened.
Powerful of build, Efthymia is depicted with deep ebony skin and hair of a deep blue, and the Sea Elves are said to be made in her image. While in the Tychi Sea holding the storm at bay, she encountered the Triton Automath, Afsit, and the two immediately formed a bond. She opened a path through the rough waves of the shore to where the Tritons, and other people beyond, lay, newly Awakened themselves, guiding the Awakened to one another.
Within Elven society, Efthymia is viewed as the master of weather and storms, responsible for keeping the seas (The Tychi Sea at first, eventually extended to the vastness of the Endless Ocean) from washing away the garden that is The Sundered Ring, The Cradle at its center. Elves pray to her for protection on journeys through rough weather, especially at sea. Her bond with Afsit is also viewed as the forerunner of Awakened cooperation and cohabitation, and the descendants of the Awakened of mixed lineage often worship her and Afsit as the ones that opened the way for their lives to be as they are.
The Sea Elves of Vathi hold a special place in their hearts for Efthymia, alongside the Triton goddess Afsit. They view her as one who might hold the tempest at bay so that they might have peace. This extends to her offering a counterpoint to the passion of Afsit as well. Worship of Efthymia is therefore more widespread in Vathi than elsewhere.
Priests and clerics of Efthymia, whether in The Pious Union of the Awakened, Vathi, or elsewhere, practice the domains of the Tempest, Nature, and Peace.
